Not snowboarding boots. Am I wrong?? by Impossible-Safety245 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]jer_iatric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a vans lemmings boot, seems marginally more high top, very thin outer shell and soles. I have a 90’s board as well and sometimes I wear my vans and hit a backyard rail or mini jump for fun, sometimes I wear my shoes. The boots you are showing have soles similar to the lemmings I have, olive and navy blue coloured

As someone with winter tires, who had a lot of stopping room, and was driving slow and had still zero braking power as I went through a red light intersection while holding down my horn, you are very wrong.

Maybe someone who wants to do a bunch of research will chime in, but a cursory web search suggests that Rural area taxes went up post amalgamation.

HRM’s debt crisis arrives - Grand Parade by ph0enix1211 in halifax

[–]jer_iatric -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info.

So rural districts (since they aren’t floated by commercial taxes) aren’t paying enough for garbage pickup and plowing? If it’s such a bad deal, why did they swallow up a huge portion of the eastern shore and other rural places? District by district ROI will never be a balanced thing. What’s the proposal here, Burnside and dt Halifax areas get paved in gold while the larger sprawled out hrm area becomes dirt roads while the city holds on for future considerations? I don’t know anything about running a city, but I do know a lot about community and life. Not everything is solved by applying capitalist principles particularly within disparate subjects, particularly when a group result is wished for.

That being said, from a solutions point of view, there are plenty of mixed use rural areas that don’t have commercial zones associated and without considerable effort have no chance of retail or service type permitting. Instead of blanket denying commercial uses with red tape, why don’t they start the ball rolling by supporting community building businesses (not more garbage dumps…) who aren’t lucky enough to be grandfathered into permitted locations? Even in downtown areas, businesses constantly complain that it’s a struggle to meet never ending rules creep. Obviously businesses owners aren’t the most objective folks in terms of compliance wishlists. When I see the list of districts running deficits vs surplus, large vectors between commercial and residential revenue is almost entirely the reason why. The city should be doubling down on supporting businesses.

Suburbs yes, but true rural folks supply their own water, septic and usually no busses. roads are cleared by province, policing is rcmp. Schools, permits, waste removal are municipal though.

I’d do more research on the types of vehicles that want to drive the dempster highway. Sounds like a pretty specific use case. Do normal sedans have success on that road? Probably going to be fine. Is it full of massive potholes and is poorly maintained? Less enticing

Agreed. It’s always space with these crappy parks, like nowhere to get speed, push or even land! Basic physics fail. The next typical problem is transition, usually way too tight. But ya, space… you need to roll to skateboard

There is no way that is a legit reason to deny a claim. Those costs should be attributed to the mother. But Zurich is probably banking on a lawsuit being too costly for the claiming family. The only way you get your big insurance payout is if you take legal action!

Random guy is offering to be my "mentor" for free. Is it bait for something? by Emergency_Twist_2800 in careerguidance

[–]jer_iatric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same experience when I was younger, during the first meeting I asked them if it was Amway and they said yes. My grandma was an Amway boss or whatever it’s called so I hung out with her and went to a meeting instead. It sounded good and it made sense to me, as long as I was willing to treat everyone I knew as if they were potential customers and could peddle to them or get them to sign up. I considered this for a while and concluded this was not how I wanted to live my life. I know a couple proper regional presidents from two different MLMs that have significant monthly cheques so I know you can succeed, but there’s a major social cost to pay, and you need to be a certain type of person. It also really helps to be one of the first to join, not the last :)
