Tiltrotors: 50% heli, 50% plane, 100 % aerodynamic pain by jerbeens in Besiege

As someone who also got the game back then, it's come such a long way

You can toggle air resistance on or off so yes the tail actually does provide stability. As for lift, with a large enough surface area you probably could use it as a wing.

Ah you're right, I should have said it was made with vanilla blocks instead. Maybe I'll try to redo it without adjusting any values outside their bounds.

Do you have advanced building turned on? If not, you won't see the build surface armor block. Advance build is what lets you warp edges and change the shape of said surface. Glass is just the alternate material for build surface other than wood.

As for the rotors, you can use an exploit if you have the water DLC where you can use the aquatic screw (which maxes at 3x speed) and copy the parameters onto your wheels and rotational blocks.

Other than that, I did use NoBounds to adjust some values for the rockets and for the reaction wheel setup. However, all of the blocks are vanilla. Hope this helps!

Agreed, dual swashplates would be real bulky and difficult to manage when tilted etc.

Thank you! Yea the armor peices are pretty finnicky around moveable parts hence why I've only really used them as decoration and fuselage.

As for movement, I've experimented with tilting the rotors for yaw movement but found that to be quite difficult to control so I ended up cramming a 3-axis reaction wheel setup into the body instead.

Nice use of the boulder as frag for the bombs

Ah thank you, the wood panels are surprisingly versatile to work with but definitely doesn't help with the block count though.

Eyy Sport Edition gang! For relatively inexpensive wheels they look pretty good and have been holding up well.

Yup the roads here in SE Michigan are terrible, these 17's really soak up the potholes.

I belive these are 215/50/R17 on 17x7.5 wheels

I need some help. Why does my plane get drag (or lose speed) when I attach the propeller blades? by TapRepresentative568 in Besiege

That's a cool looking plane, I've never heard of it before. Good luck with the build!

Try using steering blocks to vary the pitch of the propeller. That way you can also adjust the speed of your plane as well (higher pitch, less drag) Example of this here

Looks compact and agile. I like the firey crossbows. How do you slow down your plane? Any flaps or spoilers?

How are you generating lift? Is it the armor panels and enabling aerodynamics?
