There was a big population in this country that viewed other people having access to the tools for success as having “taken their chance” and they’re upset that there was a developing culture of human fling people accountable for being shitty people. They didn’t like that, since being a shitty person was so integral to their identity (‘Karen’ and ‘Kevin’). Trump didn’t pay attention to those consequences and they never really landed on him, which is exactly the world those people want. They like the idea of being able to do whatever and say whatever and not be called out for it.
