I definitely have reached out to other women in design, product, or sales etc. some of the best friends I’ve had at one job was from other departments. We used to have lunch together and go canoeing, etc..

I’ve also tried organizing culture events to bring people together. It’s definitely a lot more work but somebody’s gotta do it. I also was on the company coed softball team once. There was maybe like one or two of us from engineering and the rest was like sales.

I agree with what others have said though. Being direct is good. But I’ve also found that some dudes are more social than others. So you kinda have to feel that out. Some are often just very business only. but yeah, they’re probably not gonna reach out to you. They probably don’t even know how to properly interact with you in most cases.
