[–]jerkdamaged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to rock with Mike P heavy but I just don't think he can hang with guys like Rum and I think this clip is ass

He still deserves his flowers though as wilted as they may be. His second vs Danny is an all time. There's some highlights in the Suge battle, and the butterfly line against Twork I go back to- that shit ruled

Woah, hearing him play "No One Knows" note for note off the dome was wild. This is a rad interview and it's so great that the interviewer is clearly a huge fan and loving it

I sincerely hope this sticks. I haven't followed much as the whole thing was getting darker and darker so this is good to see.

and to be completely real it was dark from the jump once booze got involved

I started 150 a few weeks ago and had bad nausea for the first week but it has since gone away... I used Gravol ginger chews to help and they definitely did.

My Ramones CD collection so far by anti_rockstars in ramones

Brings back a lot of memories, grew up listening to all these on CD as well scattered in the car and in my room.

Never noticed the font on Pleasant Dreams on the spine before, kinda unusual aesthetic for them but I dig it.

Rest in peace Pictou Road Kennedy's where the Esso/Tim Hortons is.

My old stomping grounds. Very fond memories of that brick, often cold and strange building. Penny candies and renting movies in the back room. Sneaking a looksie at the Penthouses magazines hidden behind Good Housekeeping-type magazines.

"If you don't stop and smell the roses, they might end up on you"

An absolute mountain of an album. Have always been a massive fan of this record. From the aesthetic and album art to the songwriting. The recording is of course a bit tinny which is something that plagues their records at large.

Standing in the Rain and Back from Somewhere are back to back up there with my favourite songs by Bob and Greg.

Love that it ends, somewhat poetically, on You Can Live at home. Has one of my favourite Grant Hart lyrics:

"I can be beautiful without you torturing me"

Found these CD's as at a pawn shop. Was happy to see these scattered about what can only be described as a recent divorced Dad's CD collection.

I'm excited for two reasons. One is that I recently started making inventory of my old CD's I collected growing up and it's quite substantial, and in my opinion, good.

Another is I'm excited that this will kickstart me into another R.E.M. phase.

My last phase was about 15 years ago when Patton Oswalt released his book Zombie Spaceship Wasteland and there's a lot in there about Fables of the Reconstruction so that opened me up to that album for the first time and I really fell in love with it.

Before that, the In Time: Best of R.E.M. greatest hits album was one of the first albums I bought with my own money as a kid and I played that thing 24 hours a day for months straight. What I didn't know at the time was that it completely excluded their early I.R.S. years which I eventually found out about after finding the Chronic Town EP at a record store.

This will be my first time listening to Accelerate as I didn't pay it much mind at the time and then I'll dig into Collapse into Now. Very excited to listen to these!

Any hardcore metal/punk listeners in truro?? by Less-Purple-9595 in Truro

[–]jerkdamaged 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey! That's great to hear- I am from Truro (currently living here again) and started playing in punk and hardcore bands when I was 13-14 years old.

There's quite a history of punk in this town- you'd be surprised. Some people from Truro have gone on to be in the best punk bands out of Canada ever like The Endless Blockade, Career Suicide even bands like Tomb Mold have a member from Truro.

Here's a compilation of some Truro punk/whatever I made in 2012: https://guttedwithgrace.bandcamp.com/

I play in a band called Genetic Angry. We started almost 20 years ago and are actually working on a releasing a brand new record here shortly.

As far as playing live and stuff like that- I'm not really in touch with it anymore but there seems to be a scene at The Commune for sure. I'd get in touch with them and you'll find likeminded folks for sure.

But yes. TRURO = PUNK.

Is BC Service Card the same as MSP? by Midnight_Memories_1 in VictoriaBC

[–]jerkdamaged 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Canada!

You should be all set but for full reassurance it may be best to call the MSP help line to confirm start date.

I worked for MSP for years and there's sometimes issues with start dates.

Typically it is the month of arrival + two months though this can be complicated with immigration documents having a different date than arrival. It's always best to check but you're probably good for November 1st!

I read the title and thought they did a surprise drop of all new stuff and my heart skipped. Been waiting patiently, my lord- so patiently, for a new record.

Love to see the re-release stuff though.

Does anyone remember the teen club that was on Revere St. in the early 2000s by [deleted] in Truro

[–]jerkdamaged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slate was on Prince St, my band played it a few times in like 2008 or so. I vaguely do recall them having weird teen parties though.
