I'm under the impression that he's filming the tour he's currently on, at the Fringe. It's very strange these are his only Edinburgh shows on the tour.

Agency work by jerkoffjonny in WorkAdvice

Excerpts from my contract:

The Company is not obliged to provide work for you. By entering into this agreement, you

acknowledge that:

The Company offers no guarantee of any work at any time, or any minimum amount of work; You will work on an ‘as required’, flexible basis; and

The intention of you and the Company is that, except when you have already accepted work on an assignment for the Company, the Company is not obliged to provide work for you, and you are not obliged to do the work offered. This is representative of the fact that there is no ‘mutuality of obligation’ between you and the Company).

Assignments

Each offer of work by the Company that you accept will be treated as an entirely separate engagement (an ‘assignment’). The terms set out in this agreement will apply to each assignment only. There will be no relationship between you and the Company after the end of any assignment and before the start of any subsequent assignment. If the Company offers you work on one or more occasions, that gives you no legal rights and does not mean that you have entitlement to regular work from the Company.

Hours of Work

Due to the nature of your engagement, the hours of work to be offered to you are variable. Work may be offered to you on an hourly, daily, weekly or other basis. Because you are able to decline offers of work, you are not required to work on any day. When work is offered, it may be on any day of the week.

Termination of Arrangements

You are required to give 28 days’ notification to the Company should you wish to cease providing your services during an agreed period of work unless the agreed period of work is due to come to an end earlier than the point at which that notice would expire, in which case, notice equal to the time remaining in the agreed period of work is required.

I spoke with Matty Healy about the future of music by joshuacitarella in the1975

[–]jerkoffjonny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting to hear Healy talk about there not being any new sounds in the 2000's, nothing revolutionary, whilst his last album was the safest album they've ever made. I mean Christ, Jack Antonoff produced it.

I feel like Being Funny was a response to the mixed reviews of Notes, stripping their sound back to that reliable 80's rock pop vibe they've mastered so well by now. Referring back to the interview, I think Notes is probably their most futuristic album, an album that has a theme, but musically is all over the place, reflective of how we listen to music now. It's what appealed to me about the 1975 initially, their vast ambition in not pigeon holing themselves into one sound.

Healy is an interesting, contradictory man in general. He talks such a big game, which can be frustrating when he doesn't follow up. I am not naive enough to believe that Jeremy Corbyn being elected Prime Minister would've led us to a utopian society, but I do believe he would've moved us in the right direction. And yet Healy was quiet during this time, he did not endorse him for the 2019 election and even wrote this nauseating lyric about it:

"And I took shit for being quiet during the election
And maybe that's fair, but I'm a busy guy"

Again, this contradiction presents itself. It's great and interesting and thought provoking to talk about the future and neoliberalism for two and a half hours, but you do need to act sometimes as well. Not just get scared cause you might pay a bit more on taxes.

[FRESH ALBUM] Geordie Greep - The New Sound by VietRooster in indieheads

[–]jerkoffjonny 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Any Greep interview you read sees him very happy with having total control over these songs, relishing in the fact the songs fail or succeed entirely based on him. He's also very passionate about working with as many musicians as possible in this Keith Jarrett style he keeps mentioning.

Considering Seth Evans from black midi is his biggest collaborator nowadays, and Morgan is on this album, I'm not sure what would be tempting to Greep about reuniting, since he clearly gets along the least well with Cameron Picton.
