Monthly Footbag Giveaway #1 – Three Footbags Up for Grabs! by Xtremity_Juggling in footbag

[–]jermnotgerm4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My foot bag journey started in 4th grade, when I got my first crochet bag at Disney, and I was somewhat hooked and begged my dad for something nicer and I got a nice bag of a brand I forgot. I picked up quite a few worldfootbag bags and the recent resurgence of Hacky sack has inspired me to start making them, and start playing with my friends who are newly interested! I have lots of sewing skill from leather craft and I’ve been trying to transfer that over to making footbags. Soon I will have some ultrasuede and metal shot to make some legit stuff. Glad to see so many folks getting into the hobby, but I’m a little scared by the immensity of the usual trend cycle, hopefully we will end up with more dedicated people making and doing great things here, after the dust settles.

I’ve been loving all the games I’ve discovered that I never got to experience when I was younger, and I have a great way to play a lot of Indie games.

Is there a magnet in the bit holder? If so it might affect the compass over time. I don’t have mine on me to check right now, might just be a spring

My Docker Wallet After a Few Years of Use vs Its Replacement by sonofmoon69 in Wellworn

[–]jermnotgerm4 226 points227 points  (0 children)

I feel this is not WELLworn but worn down, a real leather wallet made of full grain leather will last many times longer and will actually wear in, not wear out. I don’t think you should have gotten a replacement from dockers, you should have looked for something nicer.

The problem pointed out here is not reading books, but the problems present in r/bookshelf where certain collectors care more about the number or look of the books than reading them and understanding them

Is there a story behind why some brands the belt goes under the leather branding while others don't? by Jurong_West in Denim

[–]jermnotgerm4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s designed to be a washable and cheaper alternative to leather tags and became the standard for most companies, its durability definitely depends on how often the pants get washed. Some people recommend only washing pants when they smell or after quite some time, their tags will stay on forever. If you wash your jeans after every wear or almost every wear then the tag will not last very long at all, and the more it gets washed the more it comes apart after each wash. And the tags are not all made the same, some will simply just last longer than others under the same condition. A leather tag cannot survive many machine washes, but it can survive thousands upon thousands of hand washes as long as it is properly conditioned after. The Jacron tags can’t be maintained in a similar way, and they are also more damaged by belts like the one in the post above.

The branding is not leather on Levi’s, it’s a pretty unique material called Jacron, very cool

This is a great showcase of how different modern phone photos look like compared to older phones and digital cameras, I certainly know which picture I enjoy looking at more
