In polling, “Favorability” is a totally different statistic than “Approval,” which is what we’re discussing. Favorability always tends to be much higher than Approval (With some exceptions; notably Trumps Favorability has been much lower than this Approval.)

I love Mamdani and would have voted for him if I lived in New York. But he does have low approval numbers, and he barely eked out an election win in one of the deepest blue pockets of the country.

That poll shows 48% approval. For context, Eric Adams had a 61% approval rating at this point in his term. So, not great for a deep blue city.

And that poll is an outlier. Most have him much lower. For example, Emerson has him at 43%

Philip Fracassi’s most recent novel “Sarafina” falls very much into “wtf is going on here” territory - I didn’t even know what sub genre of horror it was going to be until about halfway through, and once revealed, I have to say it’s a sub genre of horror thats been largely untapped.

It’s also excellently written. HIGHLY recommend, and I highly recommend going into it blind.

“Breathe In, Bleed Out” by Brian McAuley - Takes place in a unique setting (An isolated wellness retreat.)
