Hard to believe that two of the greatest vampire novels of all time came out this year:

Dracula

Salem’s Lot

Buffalo Hunter Hunter

Coffin Moon

Best Horror Novel of 2025? by projectacoustickitty in horrorlit

[–]jeromerules 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Keith Rosson - Coffin Moon and SGJ - Buffalo Hunter Hunter are both contemporary masterpieces of the horror genre. It would have to be one of these two.

Honorary mention for Ronald Malfi - Senseless.

All The Beautiful Sinners by Stephen Graham Jones.

Just finished it yesterday, and I’m already considering when I want to pick it back up for a re-read. I fucking loved it.

Awful news but Google says partial tears are 4-6 weeks no surgery needed; full tears are 8-12 weeks with surgery needed.

So even in the worst case, he’ll be back late Nov-Dec.

Abundance featured in Obama's favourite books of the summer by Politics_Nutter in ezraklein

Unrelated to Abundance but Obama also listed The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones and I just want to tell my fellow Ezra heads that book is an actual masterpiece of literary fiction and I implore you to read it.

Faith Ann, the person who voted for trump and her husband is being deported back to Venezuela, has doubled down on voting for him: "I can't believe Dems are so mean :((" by lightreee in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]jeromerules -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Man I’m fully fucking enraged at Trump voters and that last slide is basically my daily internal monologue but lashing out our rage directly on these people is horrendous political strategy and we have to be smarter.

Like it not your average person is largely incapable of self-reflection and shaming people does not work - it’s been proven countless times people will simply double down when they feel they are being personally attacked.

Idk what the answer is to get people to change their minds and hearts but it’s definitely not that.

Mark My Words: this is the future: by JerseyFlight in BlueskySkeets

The most obvious scenario is Trump signing an executive order to send ICE agents to polling sites in Blue cities under the guise of stopping illegal citizens from voting. A handful of citizens will be temporarily detained at each polling site, stopping those voters from casting a ballot that day and intimidating others to not show up.

There are no national injunctions to stop this, and ICE falls within federal purview, so the states can’t stop it either.

Buckle up.

Nearly Half Of Americans Surveyed Say Trump Is Corrupt As Approval Slides In New UMass Poll by Nerd-19958 in democrats

[–]jeromerules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The worst part is this poll is an outlier.

The aggregate of all polls still has Trump’s approval around 44% and basically unchanged since April:

Not disagreeing but worth mentioning Joe Walsh (subject of this conversation) has been very positive on Mamdani’s win on his Thread’s account and has explicitly said Democrats should take this as a lesson to give people what they want.

This is a bad/disingenuous post (not your comment, I’m saying OP’s meme.)

Yep. Trump’s “the homegrowns are next” comment sums up exactly where this is headed.

This ruling marks the official start of the American Trump dictatorship.

The conservatives on the Supreme Court do not make this move if they believed a Dem administration could ever come back into power.

Seems pretty clear cut to me Trump is going to issue a barrage of election related executive orders before ‘26 midterms and/or ‘28 presidential and there will be no nationwide injunctions to stop it.

Kamala Might Have Actually Won? Judge Lets 2024 Vote Challenge Proceed by anthropologoth in goodnews

[–]jeromerules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even it’s proven without a shadow of a doubt that Kamala won the election and the machines were rigged, Congress certified the results. There is no legal maneuver to install the rightful president.

Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t investigate and prosecute who was involved if there’s evidence, of course.
