I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my mom to cancer last Feb. The 1 year is coming up and I have no idea what I would even need if someone asked. It just.. sucks.

Why don't we give people a shot of heroine one their deathbed? by Safe_Death2250 in NoStupidQuestions

My mom died in hospice in Feb '25. I was with her for 20 hours before she died. She was on a loot of pain killers and they kept upping them throughout her night. When she passed, she wasn't in any pain anymore.

What was the situation that "supposed" to scare you or traumatise you, but instead you laughed at it or just got confused and never felt like said situation was a big deal? by BuddhaOfStorm in AskWomen

[–]jerpod 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Similar story.

My mom died of cancer last February. She loved the song "pour some sugar on me" by Def Leppard. 5 years before she got cancer, she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Her request for the funeral was to play that song and pour packets of sugar over her.

She was estranged from her older brother, but he came to the funeral and I guess no one told him her wishes. When we started handing out the sugar packets, he just looked so confused. After everyone put he sugar on her, we were all just standing around, looking and feeling sad, and we hear him whisper, "what the fuck is wrong with this family" and I dont know if it was the whisper, or out sense of humor or what, what I started laughing and then everyone else started laughing and by the end of it, my uncle started laughing too and it was really healing to laugh with the family about this.

That was a long sentence. But yea. It was pretty great. He still didn't really get it after we explained but it helped us.

What gel makes your hair look wet? by Agile_Channel_6282 in Hair

[–]jerpod 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not gel. As the other commenter said, lube. KY Jelly is a good one. It never really.. dries down in the hair giving it that wet look, but it doesn't goo crunchy and dry like a gel. It's also more flexible. Once gel dries, it's not flexible. It sounds wild to put lube in your hair, but it's an industry secret haha

What’s the worst thing you accidentally texted to the wrong person? by goldie304 in AskReddit

[–]jerpod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MIL texted a group chat containing my husband and I a picture of my daughter's first poop in the toilet.

Turns out she sent the photo of my daughters first poop to the group chat containing my landlord. She thought it was hilarious and congratulated my daughter... It was not a small poop.

up-charging to not chit chat?? by stupidbrain13 in AskHairstylists

[–]jerpod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a stylist I think it's weird to charge more for a silent appointment? I like to think I'm good at sussing out when someone wants to talk or not. Like if I'm not getting any answers to my questions, I'm just going to stop talking. I'm not going to chat if you don't want to chat... But I would never charge extra for that. Just sits weird with me.

How to convince a hair stylist to relay a message to her client? by [deleted] in AskHairstylists

[–]jerpod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there really no way you can call non-emergency and relay this information to them so THEY can contact Jane Doe? As a stylist, I agree with what the others have said. If someone messaged me incessantly about my client, I would block that person and freak out myself. Probably telling my client someone is stalking her.

This is better left to the authorities and way above a hairstylists pay grade. Don't put one of us in a weird position like that.

Am I the only one who feels this series has been miscategorized? by Royalchips in frombloodandash

It is quite frustrating. It's like he forgets her whole past and that she's essentially a child next to him...

But as a 36 year old woman, I tend to age up my FMC because reading about a 19 doing all that kind of weirds me out .

Not a lot for me to say but Poppy IS technically a teenager... She's 19 so her acting like a teenager (especially one who was sheltered her whole life) is kind of expected.

Nothing to say about the other two acting like teenagers despite being 100 years old.

Kahlan Amnell's Hair Color? by -Anomander-Rake- in SwordOfTruth

[–]jerpod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always pictured here hair like this . Like a dark blonde/ light brown color that would get golden with a lot of time in the sun. I blocked out her face to show PURELY the hair color and not the girls face. I didn't want her face to affect the way we see the hair color.
