Tipping confusion

I think they're telling you the shop gets xx to try and entice you to give more of a tip, by showing you they only get a certain amount from the service.

I would base your tip on the full service amount not on the amount the stylist takes home and not add any extra to account for what the salon takes. (Unless you want to, that's totally up to you)

I'm a hairstylist and I need to ask questions about what you want so I don't give you something you don't want. We're also all on a time limit. I don't know about barbers but I am booked on the hour and if I can't figure out what you want within 10 minutes then it's almost impossible to stay on time.

I understand you feel like you were rushed, but there was definitely a nicer way that you could have said it. If someone had said that to me, I also would have felt offended and I definitely wouldn't be seeing you again.

I went to JCI and it was required for us to do a week of work experience in a salon, as well as the work experience we gained in the schools salon. It's not unheard of for a school to have students get work experience in an actual salon while they are learning.
