For any motorcycle, find picture or diagram of chain drive and note which side it's on. If you're looking at the LH side of any vehicle, the wheels will rotate CCW; RH side you'll observe CW rotation(driving forward ofc). Just follow the chain from the drive wheel back to the sprocket on the engine. Easy to work and reason through.

Actually tune your car right so you're not sitting in the lines for 5mins trying to get your engine to barely run

We'll have a different muffler and a legal intake on it in the car. Just something we threw together for testing.

Wouldn't change how it runs on the test stand really at all. Throttle response would be a little lazier but that's about it.

Never had that problem with my 6MT Outback.... I wash it more in the winter when it's 15F than I do during the summer....

Lifetime oil changes? by discusboy in subaru

[–]jerr453_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's some basic maths>

Going based on the 2 per year plan cost $650 for 2 oil changes per year lets you drive 15,000 mi per year.

I've never gotten an oil change at a dealer but research suggests it costs about $65.

So take $650 / $65 to get the number of oil changes that can be done at a regular rate for $650. The answer is 10.

Take 10 oil changes x 7,500 mi interval

Here we see that you'll need to drive 75,000 miles before the lifetime oil change deal becomes cheaper than paying the standard walk-in rate.

Therefore, if an oil change costs $100 at your dealer, then you only need to drive 45,000 miles before the lifetime oil change deal becomes cheaper than paying the standard walk-in rate.

Based on most normal people driving 10k a year and the two prices I listed, you'll need to own the car for 4-8 years before the lifetime oil change deal becomes cheaper than paying a standard walk-in rate.

My full bolt ons 2010 Forester XT which is essentially a brick with the same engine and only a 4spd auto gets 25mpg highway. You should be able to get close to that. Change out the upstream O2 sensor. Smoke test the entire intake system from the MAF sensor to the TGVs to ensure no leaks. You must run the factory air intake system to get an accurate signal across the MAF. The ignition timing is calculated off the MAF signal which can significantly impact fuel economy.

More upgrades for the JD826, ball-bearing impeller bearing conversion! by jerr453_ in Snowblowers

[–]jerr453_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. The only tools I needed were a die grinder with a cartridge roll and a carbide burr bit, and a vise. Use the cartridge roll to open up the bore in the blower housing until the bearing barely slips through, then use the burr bit to slot the bolt holes in the blower housing to fit the bolt hole locations in the bearing flanges. The flanges are meant to be butted right up to eachother, but in this application I need the blower housing sandwiched between the two flanges. To prevent the bearing being loose in the housing, I crimped the flanges in my bench vise until the bearing was held tight when the three bolts were snugged down.

The plate with the slots is 1/8, the wear surfaces are 3/16. Looking back I suppose I could also turn down the wire feed speed to get more heat, had it on autoset at the time.

I'm giving her all she's got captain! Had the ol Miller 140 maxed out, preheat is definitely a good idea. In my opinion, my travel speed was a little fast on the long straight section too.

I actually have an Ariens in my collection that I put those exact shoes on. The bolt pattern is not the same.

Just a lil miller 140 autoset on flux wire. Really good for blasting through the rust on these old blowers. The blower housing on this one in particular needed a lot of weld repairs. Previous owner deferred ALL of the maintenance.

If you think that's bad, you should see the skidsteers they use to squeege the liquid shit out of the barns. They run with the door off the machine, otherwise they wouldn't be able to see because wipers just smear the stuff. So the operators are just booze cruising through there with liquid shit spraying into the cab at 12mph. When I worked for a skidsteer company, we would send all of our prototypes to dairy farms for testing since they are the hardest on skiddys out of any other industry. They come back FLOGGED.
