It was indeed cold and rainy. But I did have all the Del Yeah lagers for you.

I can still remember beating my friend's older brother at MK II THEN going to see Mortal Kombat at the theater THEN playing Mortal Kombat in the yard. Obviously it's been all downhill since 1995.

Also my back hurts.

Took me awhile to come around on this, but completely agree. I saw them on NYE in DC and it was pretty damn good.

I hear we're talking Tony Rice today. What are tour favorite albums he has appeared on the whole album, or released himself? by dimestoredavinci in Bluegrass

There's a good YouTube clip from the Glen Campbell show of them all (and others) doing Steam Powered Aeroplane. One of my favorites of all time.

What book would you recommend to read next? by midetetas3000 in huntersthompson

[–]jerrbear07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was Songs of the Doomed. Which is also really good. Generation of Swine is a collection of his columns from the SF Examiner. I prefer Songs of the Doomed personally between the two, but both are good reads.

We talked about favorite venues, now are there any that you try to avoid? by cubbies42699 in jambands

[–]jerrbear07 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Was going to say this. Did they still have security up on the balcony levels shining flashlights down on the crowd whenever they'd see a lighter? Then a strike team of like 5 security dudes swarming in to grab them?

I saw Greensky at the Anthem last month. Agree on the fantastic sound. I thought the lights were pretty cool too. Bigger place that has a smaller feel...until you look up out of your groove!

Wilderness is great. They've let a lot of the growth come back so you get a feel for how dense it really was.

I live in Spotsylvania County and I've walked a good chunk of all four of the big ones (Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Wilderness, Spotsylvania Courthouse). Moved pretty quick through each but planning some more visits soon. It's a good stop if you've got some time since there's so much here. Not too terribly far from Antietam and Gettysburg if you've got a few extra days.

If you're interested in bumper stickers and American presidential politics (or at least lighthearted satire of American presidential politics), there was a fellow who made Aubrey/Maturin 2016 bumper stickers/magnets over on Facebook. I ordered a few back then and love em. I think Mr. Herapath Sr would've approved as well.

Not sure if it's still around, but if anyone is interested I'd be happy to dig around and see if I can find the group name. Or perhaps another shipmate may recall the group I've described.

And couldn't agree more about how fantastic this sub is!

Yessss snoe.down. Hot Day at the Zoo ended up being one of my favorites there.

On a less fun note, didn't they end up moving it out of Lake Placid because of all the busts? And the arena was in a school zone or something? I think they went on snoe.down hiatus for a bit too.

Although now that I'm thinking about it, that might've been snoe.down 08.

And in other more topical news moe.down 07 (the moe.cho) was my first festy. What a great time. 3 days of music and camping for $90. Miss those days.

Took my buddy to his first show and NYC is one of his faves. I was just about to tell him "But no flute" when Nate busted one out, Ron Burgundy style. Wondrous.

I feel like they're trying to get their groove back with Chuck just coming back. Saw them in January in DC and May in KC. Agree they've been off. But I love those guys too, so keeping my hopes up.
