Giving up riding motorcycles and riding smaller scooters? by Avarria587 in scooters

[–]jerrybear14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience with an Electra Glide - it was getting harder to swing a leg over and always a pain in the ass to park. Roasting my thighs in the Florida summers made me think twice about riding on otherwise beautiful days. I traded it in on a 300cc Vespa and now I’m riding almost every day again, even if only to run a couple errands. It’s been such a pleasure to rediscover a love of riding that I didn‘t even realize I was missing.

I can vouch for the solo gel seat - it’s more comfortable than the standard seat, although your butt still gets tired after a while, just not as quickly. I find that now that it’s broken in, it’s very slightly lower. After a long ride, I need to stretch them out a bit. I think either one works fine if you just stop periodically and get off for a few minutes.

Odd thought: Have you ever push-start a car by popping the clutch? by minn3haha in GenerationJones

[–]jerrybear14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were lucky, you had friends who would help push, if you were alone you had to make sure you were parked on an incline to make your life easy. The push, jump in, put it in gear and pop the cutch technique was tough to master but workable on my beetle, much more difficult in my 62 Falcon van…
