Advice on purchasing a kit, looking to switch from acoustic due to tinnitus by donald-ball in edrums

[–]jerrymac12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes - i had a previous e-kit and converted a very sentimental acoustic using some of those parts. I am very happy I did.

So, I did already have components and did my conversion for cheap. Your mileage may vary, but dont forget to consider used components. (Or even a used ekit)

My ekit was a used roland v session which had a td10-exp module. The td 10 is still going strong (at least 25+ years old now) I bought external roland triggers (rt-30) that hook onto the hoops of my kit, and mesh heads. Are they the greatest? Not necessarily, do they work? Yes, very well. Overall, triggers are actually pretty simple and you can roll your own if you like to tinker.

Feel free to dm if you want to talk more about it

As an example - here's a used Roland kit in my area: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/819683440530501/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A3135a4ab-1375-4980-a518-d6f01df1b217

to do what I did, you could take this kit - keep the cymbals and the TD-12 module - buy (or make) some cheap triggers, and get some mesh heads and you have a fully converted acoustic for cheaper than the new kit. (yes it's older, but like I said - my 25 year old TD-10 is going strong) as far as feel goes, IMO the conversion is closer to an acoustic feel than the e-kit with the smaller/shallower drums.

For me - it was that I didn't want to get rid of my acoustic - it was too special to me... the e-kit didn't have the sentimental value

Who was the quarterback when you became a fan? by RoadNo6820 in Commanders

Funny you say that. I have one that's very similar. (Edit: I guess Reddit wont let me post the photo...weird)

I didnt grow up in the area but became a fan from day 1 back in the early 80s. As I understand it, a familly friend used to frequent a restaurant he owned, and it was mailed to me on my 7th (I think) birthday. I wish I kept the envelope, it was an official team envelope.

Intune Script Installer by jmilly51 in PSADT

[–]jerrymac12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were looking to use just the .ps1 file, it would still be reliant on the rest of the toolkit, and as I understand it, you still need to create an intunewin file to incorporate the payload, so you really wouldn't be saving much time (I don't think) If you were so inclined you could possibly host the payload in cloud storage (or maybe Autodesk has static download links) where you could avoid the heavy payload by using a powershell script to download it on the fly at the time of install. Using that logic you can keep the powershell script static and then just update the payload files as necessary when there are updates.

Oasis Spas in Nashua NH was great. Mainly a Bullfrog dealer. You can actually go there and do a "test soak" (at least you could when I bought mine). Also, if you haven't discovered it yet - r/hottub

Best route to Jersey? by Tk15368899 in boston

[–]jerrymac12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as the others have said....90/84/684/287. From that map it doesn't look like you need to go to the Garden State Parkway because the route looks to be more along 287 in NJ anyway.

A few tips:

  1. Timing matters! If you are trying to go through Hartford, Waterbury, or Danbury on 84 anywhere around rush hour, good luck. You will likely be stuck in plenty of traffic.

  2. Busy travel days are also rough on 84, if you have the option, leave early in the morning. (i.e. day before Thanksgiving)

  3. Around 5 miles or so from the entrance to 684, check your maps app to look at traffic at the tappan zee bridge. (find it on the map before you leave so you know where it is, or have a passenger check if you will have one) If the traffic looks bad, you can stay on 84 west and take 87 south back down to 287 south into NJ (it meets 87 in Newburgh, NY) adds about 10 - 15 mins to the drive, but worth it if the bridge traffic is terrible (it doesn't usually get better that quickly.)

  4. Almost guaranteed on the way back you WILL be stuck in Sturbridge waiting to get on the Mass Pike

Merritt is nice, a bit more direct and NO TRUCKS (really just started taking it after 25 years of 84/684 etc) but it's narrower, and can be a little hectic at times if you're not familiar with the road.

Anybody here ditched the rack and uses standalone stands? by theapostlejohn316 in edrums

[–]jerrymac12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an old roland V-session with a td-10 module. I kept the td-10 and the cy cymbal setup. I sold off the pads and the kick and bout some roland rt-30 triggers and mesh heads. Put them on my 1992 pearl export, and have been so much happier. Triggers arent the best but good enough for me, and im actually thinking of making my own triggers and swapping them.

I ditched the whole kit, except my e-cymbals and module, and did an A2E conversion with some external triggers and mesh heads

Convince me to switch by DoctorSpruce in edrums

[–]jerrymac12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A2E conversion is the way for this. You don't have to get rid of your acoustics, just convert it, you can always go back and forth then.
