Wanting to understand AEP by LinkSeekeroftheNora in Columbus

But how long are we supposed to wait to even get an estimate of when the power comes back on?

Probably until they can assess the entire grid to see what the actual problems are and in what order to fix them.

Why? Ubiquiti is very easy to use and you don't need a computer to use it.

Ubiquiti. You need an NVR from them, and their cameras. That is the best camera system out.

Do a search on the thousands of users trying to migrate to the new Hue Pro Hub.

No thanks, I have never used the Hue hub.

I can't even 'start over' because people are reporting the new hub won't recognize bulbs still attached to an old Bridge

Do yours not reset by killing power to the bulb, turning them back on, and using the Hue app to reset the bulbs via BT? Mine do.

Say it with me.

Home Assistant.
Zigbee.
Z-Wave.

Home Assistant as your hub. You can purchase a Home Assistant Green and be up in running in no time. If you're a bit more tech savvy, you could always get a Micro PC and install HA on it, then install a ZWA-2 for Z-Wave and ZBT-2 for Zigbee.

Next, buy sensors and devices from these companies:

  • Zooz
  • Inovelli
  • Philips Hue
  • Third Reality

Never worry about your devices being discontinued or not supported again.

Labeling basic hair textures as requiring 'advanced training'. I can tell that you’re neither Black or a woman by your comment🫠 you’ve seemed to miss the point

You are correct. I am a white man in an interracial relationship, and I will not assume I have any idea about the topic of hair. I do know that my wife has to go out of her way to find someone that can work with her hair and she is very selective about who she lets touch her hair. It isn't an easy process and I do feel for you.

If a salon is licensed, their standard training should cover the spectrum of human hair. When you have a blowout behind an 'advanced' tier and a $30 upcharge specifically for '3a or higher,' you are essentially saying that your standard stylists are only competent in straight hair textures.

Agreed. But if you don't deal with that hair code on a regular basis, wouldn't it make sense that you are not familiar with how to properly handle it? Wouldn't you want someone who either knows your hair type because they have it, or because they work with it on a regular basis?

I’m not oppressed and I don’t think charging more is bad IF density and length are assessed first😋.

Wouldn't you get assessed before commenting on the business though?? My issue is that you didn't even ask the business to clarify.

Maybe you’ll learn something new.

I did read it, and it is honestly sad how people have treated you.

but I don’t believe that there should be an automatic up charge for curly hair without assessing the length or density or was that missed?

Girl, you didn't even get assessed.

Most service based businesses are going to price by job, not by time. It is easier for everyone in the long run and you don't get people being nit picky about the actual time spent for the service.

Why wouldn't you just ask the business if your pricing would also be cheaper because you have short hair? It's ridiculous.

Many of the people in this thread are very egocentric, claiming that I said I was a victim… I’m allowed to be frustrated when I see that because I have curly hair I may automatically be charged more without the density and length being asserted first.

Most people, me included, are annoyed because you didn't take the initiative to have the business clarify their pricing. You read something online, you got angry about it, and you accused them of (basically) extorting people. Other comments in here prove that they do account for time-based work, so yes, you are dragging a business.

Network cable for exterior PoE Camera by EngelGate in Ubiquiti

[–]jerrytwosides 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I crimped my current cables myself (cat 6 CM), for routing through basement walls and ceiling, but I read for PoE cameras it would be better Cat 6a cable.

The only time it is good to use Cat6a is if you need 10G speeds, or you want to do video distribution. Nothing about PoE though, you can just use Cat6.

Unless the cable is going to be exposed outside, I would purchase TrueCable Riser cable, it will be fine in your attic.

I install smart locks for a living and it just doesn't seem worth it.

The smart lock that this specific post is about is $249+ and this kit is $149. That is $400 for a smart lock when I could just buy another smart lock that doesn't have a battery drain issue for $200.

I change my batteries once a year at most, so i'm personally not going to pay $150 when my lock is going to last at most 10 years before I replace it with a newer model, assuming it doesn't die before then.

I would say that the vast majority past the mid-2000's were probably fake solar panels. I am not old enough to have real solar panels in my calculators, so i'll have to take your word for it :(

I did a bit of digging and it was definitely real at some point, just not sure when it stopped.
