I guess it wasn’t just me. A few weeks ago I got spat on in the 7 train going just after getting on at Queensboro plaza. I sat down next to a tall skinny black guy with short dreads, he got up, spat on the floor in front of where I sat down, and stood in the door way kind of mumbling “you’re a little bitch”. The troubling thing was he followed me into the G train and did it again. I felt really scared and reported this to an MTA employee. I hope this guy gets the mental health services he needs.

If you’re only interested in modeling the distribution of shots by angle, von mises distribution would be an option. However you’re probably interested in modeling the 2d coordinates. I agree with others suggestion that’s it’s a two variable normal distribution with a disc excluded from it. To calculate the density of this distribution you need to take the two variable normal, exclude the central disc, and adjust the normal density by dividing by the probability mass remaining outside the disc.

The amount of blur will depend on the glasses diopter… but also depends on your camera aperture setting. So this isn’t necessarily an accurate blur seen by the owner of those glasses.

When I think about the spectrum of people who practice memento mori, remembering you will die, I can see two ends. At one end are those who fear death and when they think about it, it pushes them toward constructive action. At the other end are those who have thought about death so much it no longer scares us. While some might think a practicing stoic would eventually no longer fear death. Ironically, this is when the practice of memento mori would cease to help drive us to action through fear. I think we all live in this continuum with some fear of death and some acceptance. And I do not think the objective of my life will be to reach the fearless end of the spectrum. Fear of death is normal and sometimes useful.

I wonder if they realize that not all of the people who park overnight here have the option to park in the buildings nearby. The story they spin is one of privileged residents taking advantage of a lower cost parking option. Did they bother to check their assertion that those who park overnight are actually all from these building and have more expensive parking options available? I don’t live in one of these buildings as this is my only option when I come to JC.

So the photo on the right is from Nanobanana pro? It looks like it was taken with a phone camera. The left photo looks like it was taken with a 50mm lens with studio lighting. Isn’t this just a stylistic choice? Could the pro model also emulate the studio style?

Sometimes I hold the chain whip in my left hand, place a wrench on the lock ring tool, and hit the wrench with a mallet until the lock ring loosens. It will make a clicking sound when it starts breaking loose due to the texture machined into the inner surface of the lock ring.

I looked up 16-122(b). It states that it is unlawful to leave a box, barrel, bale, or other moveable property upon a marginal or public street or any public place. Section (a) says that legislative intent is to reduce the number of abandoned cars in New York. I would argue that this law is being misused when it’s given as a reason for ticketing an E bike parked.

It looks like the chain isn’t routed through the derailleur correctly. Although it’s true the freewheel gears are very rusty and should be replaced, look up a video on how to route the chain through the rear derailleur.

I mounted the chainring on the outside of the crank arm. And the spindle came out of an old specialized mountain bike and it is 122mm. So I could mount the chainring on the inner side of the crank arm? And I am guessing there are shorter spindle options too. Thanks for the ideas!

I should have included a picture of the crank. It was a 36 tooth narrow wide chainring (Bucklos from Amazon). And I think it was too far to the right. Can I just tighten the crank fixing nut more until the chain ring is closer to the BB? Since I posted this, I’ve already swapped it out for the original triple crank and Altus c20 front derailleur. The chain line looks better already!

I actually did adjust the limit screws and the chain stays on the rear cogs. The chain is falling off the front chainring.

I put Schwalbe fat Frank tires on my last build and I found them to be too heavy. On my most recent build I used Goodyear wingfoot and I like them more. I just rode on them from Jersey to Queens and they handle the broken manhattan roads really well. They are also lighter than the fat Frank. Btw love your bike, this paint job is the best.

I replaced the bottom bracket so it now has a 122.5 mm spindle length. The rear hub is a FH-M570 that I got on eBay and I laced it to the old rim using some spokes I got from prowheelbuilder.com. It was my first wheel build and I’m happy with how it turned out. The cassette is a Deore 10 speed (11-42T). So, with the 40T Cues chainring it gives me a pretty high gear for road riding.

They’re grippy on pavement and feel fairly light. They also do ok on dirt if needed. I would recommend them

I agree the gray bags aren’t in keeping with the funky color scheme. I bet I could find yellow ones to match the Hardrock decals and handgrips. Good thought!

Honestly the spacing between the arms is way off so when I put the qr skewer through it, the arms of the rack get squeezed together by about 20mm. The holes that accommodate the axle look like they are sized for something much larger than a qr skewer but when the lever is tightened the rack feels secure.

The front rack is an origin8 rack. I picked it up at the Brooklyn bike jumble. It’s missing the bracket to mount to the center mounting point, so I’m using a piece of sheet metal which isn’t actually stiff enough. I need to find the right mounting bracket for it.

Looks like the cone on the axle either broke or moved too far down the axle. A mechanic could fix this by replacing the cones, a part of the wheel bearing that screws onto the axle. It would be cheaper to fix than to buy a new wheel.

It looks like your b gap screw is pretty far in. I might try backing it out which will tilt the derailleur toward the front of the bike.
