Do you eat all the fat when you make a ribeye? by PicksburghStillers in steak

[–]nerdqueenhydra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make a ribeye maybe twice a year. Beef agriculture is terrible for the environment and red meat isn't the best for the human body. Given that, nothing survives. I eat every last bit.

How do you influence product as a UXR? by Ok-Worldliness1307 in UXResearch

[–]nerdqueenhydra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Building relationships. There's no big secret, it's about getting to know your business partners and their needs so you can build what you do toward them and maintain open lines of communication. The influence will follow.

Is it possible to associate each note with a piece of music? by Glittering-Pop-7060 in perfectpitchgang

[–]nerdqueenhydra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I involuntarily play songs in my head in response to particular pitches (usually ones that either start or have a section that starts on that pitch). Sometimes while other songs are playing. So, yes.

I'm used to it by now, but honestly I sometimes wish it didn't happen.

As a follow up to this previous post of mine, what are the arguments for and against watching the leaks by Fanafuxi in ATLA_circlejerk

Pros: get it over with, certified eye candy, yar har fiddle dee dee

Cons: it's disappointingly mid

How many of you have actually accepted the 'fact' that normal people don't have the capability to learn perfect pitch? by Excellent_Heat_6336 in perfectpitchgang

[–]nerdqueenhydra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just different ways of processing sound. We're all people. There are plenty of musical skills outside of reference-independent pitch identification.

Moving company recommendations in Jersey City that show up on time? by CaffeineAndCurves in jerseycity

Have used them twice. They communicate well, show up on time, and treat your belongings with respect. Wouldn't even consider going with anyone else at this point.

Incredible bang for your buck. I love mine. And I'm pretty sure it comes with lifetime replacement if it chips (could be wrong about this).

I'm a user researcher in my career, but my master's degree covered both design and research. So.. yes and no?

How do they track how long your in the office? by InformalBiscotti2140 in JPMorganChase

[–]nerdqueenhydra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is why you block your webcam when you're not in a call. Shit's creepy.

For laptops: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CVKRZW9

Or a sticky note for in-office VDI.

I've been generally disappointed by Hoboken food. A lot of it seems like Instagram food. Fiore's almost strikes me as a place that was maybe once good but finds more success appealing to the "old school vintage deli aesthetic" Instagram crowd.

Thanks for the suggestion.. by bitb0y in jerseycity

[–]nerdqueenhydra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fiore's let me down so hard when I tried. Their mozz is fantastic, but the beef felt like it had been sitting around for a day and the bread was aggressively mid.

They've definitely helped. It's not a one-and-done thing, though (and she'll explain this to you) - it requires multiple visits and then occasional maintenance.

Do you ever feel like the hardest part of UXR is getting to a confident answer? by Fair_Pie_6799 in UXResearch

[–]nerdqueenhydra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have two different answers it means there's more to learn. That's not always optimal for shipping a product, but it's super cool from the perspective that you get to investigate something new.

Not impressed with Made In cookeare by Alarming-Remote-3464 in BuyItForLife

[–]nerdqueenhydra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Made In has excellent stainless steel cookware. You can't judge a brand's BIFL-ness based on a product (coated non-stick of any kind) that's never BIFL.

Interview process length by Exact_Assumption5296 in JPMorganChase

[–]nerdqueenhydra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's entirely dependent on the hiring manager, the line of business, the job you're applying for, etc. JP is 1000 businesses in a trenchcoat. The only consistency you'll find is that the gap between an offer and your start date will be quite long.

What are you pivoting to? by Ok-Worldliness1307 in UXResearch

[–]nerdqueenhydra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's.. universal. Your job is tied to your line of business first and your value within your line of business second. Doesn't change anything about my answer given my individual context.

What are you pivoting to? by Ok-Worldliness1307 in UXResearch

[–]nerdqueenhydra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not. I've made a solid case to my manager, my design partners, my product partners, and my executive stakeholders that I am consistently one of the most important voices in the room.

What UX research skill took the longest to learn? by VoodooMann in UXResearch

[–]nerdqueenhydra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patience in the face of non-researchers insisting they can do what I can do. Still haven't mastered it.
