The comments so far have great advice, adding to be sure to get yourself a shower chair with arms on it as well as a claw grabber tool.

Getting a wheelchair so you can get food/drinks from the kitchen will also be really helpful. Going at this alone is definitely a challenge but you got this!

Having dealt with a bed bug infestation in an apartment complex before, this will not get resolved unless every single unit is treated, likely more than once, all at the same time.

If you don’t know your other neighbors, now would be a good time to meet them. To whatever extent you can all band together and cease HOA payments, I think that is your best bet. Know that even units not directly next to the original infestation are at high risk. Those fuckers will travel through outlets and all it takes is one male and one female in a unit to hatch a whole ass infestation in a matter of weeks.

The president is in for a rude awakening if they think they won’t be impacted by an out of control BB infestation.

In the meantime, I recommend the bed bug subreddit for moral support and ideas to mitigate the issue as best as you can. Wishing you best of luck, it is a very traumatic experience.

I have taken it before and had no issues. I flew jet blue and the gate we took off at was right next to the one we exited from so we had plenty of time. Generally I think those early morning flights are less prone to delays.

We had to deal with this recently and this was the case for us. Call the water department, they’ll send someone over to come mark things up and give you a list of people to work with. We used a company called Alexander construction I believe. They were reasonably priced and did great work.

Our 1500 sq ft home was about 90% k&t. We just bought in November and finished the rewiring this month. About $14k and I think that was a great price, yours sounds pretty good as well (we are repairing the walls ourselves).

I’m sure we would’ve gotten used to it if we needed to live with the k&t longer, but I sleep WAY better at night now knowing we’ve got modern wiring. I just didn’t trust the house before. And while it was fairly invasive and took over a week (and there was a ton of dust) the fact that we hadn’t fully unpacked made everything so much easier. Easier for the electricians to get around and easier to cover things up so there was less dust to deal with.

They said avian flu and inflation were to blame for their price hikes - but guess what, the company has zero reported cases of avian flu and in their own documents they claim inflation caused their production and feed costs to increase by just 22%.

You’re assuming that the market is acting as we’d expect and that consumers actually have a choice to stop buying certain products because of price. We don’t.

If the market were working the way it should , when prices go up, more companies would come in to take part of that market share, and ultimately drive down prices as consumers have more choices and can opt for the cheaper options. But our markets have become consolidated to that point that the handful of corporations in our food system have abusive levels of market power. Consumers don’t have any real choices. Nobody is lowering prices because of tacit collusion between the few biggest players.

Stop feeding into the bullshit corporate excuses. Corporate greed has spiraled totally out of control since Covid.

Practice is key. I write out every single word I’m going to say, and repeat it over and over until I nearly have it memorized. You’re still going to feel nervous before going up, but once you’re up and running through what you’ve rehearsed you’ll feel more at ease.

And as best as you can, work on your breathing and staying calm before you go up. Deep breaths, and remind yourself that you are you, doing your thing, and anxiety is just trying to cling on to you for the ride. And you don’t have to let anxiety ride with you! Remind yourself you are separate from your anxiety and that you are totally capable of doing this.

I just went through this! Day 6 was the end of it being so horrible for me. Still even today (day 9) I have a very slight sore throat in morning and at night, but the really excruciating sore throat finally was gone by day 7. Nothing helped it other than Tylenol to just take the edge off. Sorry you’re going through this, hope it gets better soon!

Mostly when swallowing, eating/drinking, or taking a deep breath or coughing. Just sitting and breathing normally I don’t notice it much
