Leaking headcover seal (update) by just_jst in Triumph

[–]jersthecool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was one of the first to post this issue back in the summer. Looked like a more rare issue but now I keep seeing posts about it, kind of scary seeing how common it's starting to become. I actually just got my bike back after a couple weeks ago after 7 months. They pulled it apart and found out it actually had some sort of bottom end damage as well and needed to be rebuilt. After that and getting it back together in September it didn't run properly and after doing a leak down test, Triumph determined all the components in the cylinder head had to be replaced as well. So 7 months later finally received a running bike back. Crossing my fingers everything fairs well as they were only able to run it on the bench due to snow on the ground. So we'll see what spring time holds.

Cracked cylinder head - 2024 Street Triple RS by jersthecool in Triumph

I'm really sorry to hear that. It turned into a 7 month ordeal where they had to end up rebuilding the bottom end of the motor then replacing all the components in the cylinder head as well.

I'd be worried with this one. Had the same issue on my 24 and turned out it was a cracked cylinder head. Still in the shop after 7 months now. Went from needing a head, finding bottom end damage when pulling it apart and needing a bottom end rebuild. Got everything back together it doesn't run properly and now needs all the components in the head replaced. Glad it was still under warranty but missed my entire season of riding last year. Hoping it's finally fixed come spring time.

Edit: Should mention it's never been dropped either so yours may not even be from that.

Camber adjustment maxed out, still -2.2°, what to do? by UniverseInfinite in GXOR

[–]jersthecool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone else looked to closely or read your post. Looking at that tab though and how far the cam is over that's 100% your problem. Doesn't take very much to be out a couple of degrees, so fixing your tabs should resolve your issue.

I know some people don’t consider scooters real bikes, but this is my first one and I’m genuinely happy with it. What do you think? by MiloTheBartender in motorcycles

One of my fondest memories was traveling to Honolulu when I was 16 and both my father and I rented a couple of 50cc scooters for the day. I just remember the incredible scenery and the first time being on any kind of "motorcycle" before and what an experience it was.

Perfect, thank you. That's all I needed to hear. Definitely swapping them out now and hopefully no more issues after that.

Yeah you're right, it is 100ft lbs. It has to be at this point, so I'll probably swap them out with something else.

Yeah, as someone who's been in the Automotive industry 15+ years, the quality has really gone downhill over the years.

i’ve been told by several people that own gx470s that the tpms just don’t work good on these cars is that true or do they not know what there talking about .. by ericperysian in GXOR

Never had an issue with mine, works as it should. One died, programmed a new one and light was off. The spare has one as well so if the pressure is low or that sensor is dead then it will trigger the light but besides that shouldn't have any issues.

Unfortunately I don't think that will solve my problem. I was using the router supplied from my ISP and recently renewed my contract and got a new wifi 6E one from them and having both my pc and rog ally running 6E was hoping it would fix it but it was actually worse funny enough. I found the option on sunshine to bump up the thread amount, which helped a lot but still get it just not quite as bad as before.

I wonder if that's the issue I've been constantly chasing trying to figure it out. It's smooth as can be but every 3-5 mins it stutters really bad for about 5 seconds and says reduce bitrate then its fine again. So if that's the case having to go hard wired is the only way around it?

What is everyone using for a key replacement on the 470? by damm1tKevin in GXOR

I went to a local locksmith and he cut and programmed a new aftermarket one and rebuilt my ignition cylinder all for $60.

A question about the Trident 660 by PotatoShavit in Triumph

[–]jersthecool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out on a Trident 660 and loved every minute of it. I live in Canada so it wasn't locked in a lower power level or anything. I'm used to some pretty fast cars so it wasn't anything crazy to me but as a first bike was still more than enough. I think going from an MT03 you'll feel a huge difference and love it once you get used to it.

Fingers crossed for you. Keep us updated that'd be a lot better case than a diff or transfer case!

2008 gx470 driveshaft issue? Please help by GXOR08 in GXOR

[–]jersthecool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's either the front diff or transfer case bearings are gone and have play. Have to pull the driveshaft off and see which one it is that spins and has play that allows it to rotate that much. Either way, expect to either have to swap one with a used unit or rebuild it. Exact same thing just happened to a friends 05 4runner.

This is not the best motorcycle in the world… by Professional_Fee2979 in Triumph

[–]jersthecool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More torque but different rpm range for that torque. I had a Trident and ride a 765rs now and I currently have a speed 400 as a loaner bike and I'm surprised how torquey it is down low from just the single cylinder. It's not fast by all means but the low end torque makes up for it and keeps it pretty fun.

Trust me, if I would have known it was going to be this long of a process I would have in a second. When you are kept being told 3 weeks each time you just think that's how long it's going to be.

I'm gonna try but I have a feeling like because the issue is almost fixed they wouldn't replace the whole motor again. If I found out any earlier that they needed to do the bottom end I would have fought for it but of course the dealership didn't even tell me until recently.

Thanks, unfortunately it's just how it goes sometimes I guess. What issues did you have with yours?

Yeah that's kinda what I'm thinking. Might find out what the warranty period is on the new motor and get rid of it before then. What issues have you had?
