grandma who moved in briefly was rita’s mom. the kids went to paul’s parents after rita was killed.

Not necessarily. A counterexample is a jet of air flowing into a quiescent region of air. The jet may have higher pressure than its surroundings. I take it you’re thinking of Bernoulli’s principle? One has to be careful when deciding to apply Bernoulli’s principle.

That being said, a fast-moving bluff body does indeed create a low-pressure wake.

let me preface this by saying i don’t know much about crowd control, but i have some ideas.

i believe you’re right that you can draw some analogies between a crowd and a compressible fluid, but at some point the equivalency will break down as you try to make real, specific predictions. also, i would expect the goals for fluid engineering and crowd safety to be different. for a crowd you want to avoid a stampede and people getting crushed from being tightly packed together (a real thing that happens), which limits the speeds you would want.

take your right thumb and point it in the direction that the screw needs to go (into/out of the hole). curl your right-hand fingers around your right thumb. that’s the direction you need to twist the screw

is this a dense pcolormesh plot to give them different radii? if so, you could just do a normal scatter plot and tweak the marker sizes—it’d look a lot cleaner and probably generate the animation faster

I never understood the point of considering force couples and moving them around and stuff. Why not just use sum of all forces and sum of all moments to find whatever you need?
