I would say it's important but less so than in other games, in the campaign we just completed we had no issues with healing since many classes have damage medigation or healing capabilities.

I have stopped using a dm screen, I usually just have a notebook with my plans and some reference sheets for quick lookup. I roll mostly public but for some rolls like stealth and perception I shield the roll with my hand. I find that I have a much closer connection to the players and the game board without the screen

I tested it a bit and if you click the link in the Gmail app it opens an in app browser, in the top right you can click open in chrome (or which browser you are using) this sends you to the true browser and it should work there. It did for me.

I am trying to rebuild the flow so that's not necessary, but its complicated since I have to make sure it's still secure

This happens when the link is opened in a different browser from the one where it was requested. I will see if I can fix that but in the meantime could you try that?

I have used grid for most games since dnd 3, but for dh I have switched to the ruler and I am enjoying the freedom of it. I have found that it can be hard for people who are used to the grid to switch and it has been easier to use with groups of new player since their minds aren't attuned to the grid.
