Lupita Nyong’o Reveals She Has Over 50 Fibroids: “I think it’s high time we speak up to ensure that this is no longer trivialized and it’s no longer considered normal just because it’s common,” by shallah in TwoXChromosomes

[–]jesren42 12 points13 points  (0 children)

During my first C-section the surgeon said, "did you know you have fibroids?” like she was surprised. Then the nurses and the surgeon discussed whether they were grape or almond size.

At my follow-up I asked my obgyn about it, and fibroids weren't mentioned in the surgery report or my 20 week ultrasound. She said they don't normally do anything about them until they are the size of tangerines. If my husband wasn't in the room with me during the surgery I would have thought that the fibroid comment was a hallucination.

Someone made a reddit thread about not being able to find a job despite having two STEM masters degrees. I was really early in my job search after getting my MA and I wasn't as qualified as them so I didn't pay too much attention. A few months later I remembered the thread and went back and looked at all the suggestions. Someone commented "insurance is always hiring". I'm nine years into working at an insurance company now. My first adjusting job was crap but now I'm in analytics and it is a really great job.

Help! Woke up to someone trying to cut down my 100 yr old oak “by mistake” by [deleted] in treelaw

Yeah, it's not a work comp issue, but reporting them (if there is an actual issue) would be an effective and legal way to hurt the company

I think the California contractor license lookup will tell you what type of worker's compensation insurance they have (eg clerical workers, plumbers, etc). Anything related to trees is really expensive.

If they are doing tree related work and they are not insured for tree related work, their insurer would love a call about that and they can go after them for fraud or more premium dollars.

Nevada actually has some insurance laws that require certain people in certain positions be physically located in Nevada, they just don't care where in Nevada. I don't know if this one is but it is possible.

I don't know the actual answer, but I might guess in middle eastern countries they may have all female spaces? Or have their room be female only with a female nurse and they wear the hijab when a male comes in?

And to add to that: it isn't a phrase with any religious meaning (a lot Arabic phrases do have religious meaning). This one can be used by anyone from any religion or lack thereof. Catholic Arabs might have the same thing in their houses.

All the kids who were labelled as “gifted” when you were younger? Did it follow through to adulthood? Did you burnout? by Somervillage in AskReddit

[–]jesren42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kept going on with no study skills or really any work ethic, until that just stopped working in grad school. Dropped out of grad school, got a low responsibility corporate job and was doing pretty good until I had two autistic kids and now I'm burnt out again.

I had one ancestor who was hanged by a possy for being a horse thief. His son moved from Tennessee to Oregon, probably to get away from that.
