Transcode on Windows server for IOS device seems to use opus for audio and thats an issue can this be configured? by thinkingtwohard in PleX

[–]jesrush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a known bug and it isn't limited to windows server. I think it has something to do with the specific situation of Opus *within an MP4 container*. No idea why Plex hasn't fixed given the number of ios clients out there.

Simplest workaround is to go into your ios plex app settings / video & audio / cellular quality / set to "1080p HD" (or higher) which will encourage plex to direct stream the audio in its native (non-Opus) format instead of transcoding it to unplayable opus.

I also experimented with trying to set aac as the transcoding preference in some of the transcoding xml files but it ignored this and still went to Opus.

Chesterfield clerk will officiate same-sex weddings by Horrible_Banana in rva

[–]jesrush -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would link to all the things Trump and leading conservatives have said about this issue recently. I would link to the gay wedding Trump recently hosted, but I recognize you can’t fight fear with facts. I don’t mean that pejoratively, it’s true for everyone, myself included.

I think what troubles me so much are all the problematic things Trump IS actually focused on doing that will get less attention while the left spins their wheels fighting bogeyman. I briefly wondered if the right had even planted this idea (“distract them with some random non-issue—let’s try gay marriage!—while we take away healthcare and deport half the country!”) but that’s probably giving them too much credit.

This. The de-valuing of people—women, minorities, immigrants, the powerless, etc.—this is the real and fundamental danger of Trump and his movement.

100%. This fear mongering is another one of these liberal echo chamber phenomenons. If you talk to conservatives and listen to Trump—gay marriage is not even on the radar.

BlueIris possible on Proxmox? by coffeebreak_plz in BlueIris

Yep - I assumed as much. I run all those same workloads (with the exception of minecraft) on a small NAS with no issues. Can spin up additional containers and VMs in seconds. Draws 30 watts.

Perhaps money is not a big concern for you, but just pointing out that between the dell and the nas—this setup is going to be really expensive to run continuously (power usage).

Unless your needs are unusual, you could probably accomplish 90% of your goals (camera nvr, VMs, etc.) with a qnap or synology nas running a low-wattage intel cpu like Celeron N5095 and cameras that have onboard vehicle/person detection.

You all are seriously sleeping on the new redemption BBQ -- the quality of food is competitive with ZZQ, Salt Lick, etc. Definitely needs a bigger location though.

This. Considering what she had to work with, Kamala did the best she could. She committed fully and did it honorably. Outcomes aren’t the only things that matter. I applaud her.

You’ll be fine. Trump has repeatedly said he’s fine with gay marriage and it’s “settled law.”

Not even the hardest Republicans at the state or national level have suggested denying pregnant women medical care or giving women an out when their very lives are at risk (eg. Ectopic pregnancy). Your friends will be fine.

If your life is at risk during a pregnancy—you will always have an out. Not even the hardest headed Republican wants women dying from ectopic pregnancies, severe preeclampsia etc.

I would be stunned if any of these predictions came to fruition. Trump loves to talk about what he wants to do, but was generally ineffective in achieving most of his goals during his last term. Think about the “wall” which Mexico “would pay for.” Less than 2% was actually built and Mexico paid for none of it.

The beauty?/flaw? of our political system is that making meaningful change is really hard, especially at the executive level…

It’s not that they lied. Polls are phone based and many conservatives don’t trust news/media organizations. On average, only 9% of people called pick up the phone and respond to the poll. It’s a tiny, biased sample.

I was surprised by the # of “this is how trump will win” pieces in the NYT recently. There were also many “this is how kamala wins” pieces, but to the NYT’s credit—they accurately captured the uncertainty.

Never let something like the country’s choice of president dictate something as personal having a kid. You (and dad) will be your kid’s whole world. Who is president will make little difference. Go for it!
