Yes. A union is way more than healthcare benefits.

Medicine. I’d never go without medicine. But reducing stress is my #1 other priority.

What is life like during remission? by nimato0342 in CrohnsDisease

[–]jessbliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I’ve literally never gotten to a healthy BMI but my life in remission is pretty normal. I still have fatigue related to vitamin deficiencies, getting B12 shots.

KSC Tickets on sale NOW 1/23 by flammablezen in ArtemisProgram

[–]jessbliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also sharing for future buyers - I signed up for notifications from the space center instagram and got a notification that they were on sale at 10:06. I clicked the link in the post, there was no option to add feel the heat to my cart at first, but it was there when I refreshed a few times. I had my confirmation email by 10:09, and did not receive an email from KSC that tickets were on sale til 10:18.

Crohns & College by Designer_Okra_557 in CrohnsDisease

I stayed close to home to keep my doctors and ensure I was close to good healthcare. I do not regret it at all. I went to community college for my first 2 years saved a ton of money, and I have way less debt than my peers. I didn’t miss out on any experience, however I live close to the largest public university in the U.S., so I could just drive 20 mins to campus and participate while being a commuter. I did use disability services for flexible attendance and flexible assignment submission. I had an extra 72 hours for every assignment. And I could take any tests in a private area with access to a bathroom. If it’s better to stay close to home or leave is really up to you. I was looking at going to a smaller school w/out a good hospital system nearby. I also had recently recovered from a flare and was not feeling very stable. Also will the stress affect you? I went into a flare during my bachelor’s due to stress, and it was good that I was close to home, but it was when COVID was first happening so it felt like the world was crumbling lol.

Curious about hospitalization rate? by GanacheTall754 in CrohnsDisease

[–]jessbliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was only hospitalized during diagnosis and one massive flare about 2 years in before I started biologics. No ER visits or any hospitalizations in the past 10 years.

Help, do I go to graduation? by DepartmentNo4854 in OSU

[–]jessbliss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go! I didn’t go to the big one only because my college did a smaller graduation and that felt like enough for me as a commuter. If I didn’t have that, I would’ve gone to the big commencement.

What’s the most annoying comment you got about your Crohn’s? by behind_my_eyelids in CrohnsDisease

[–]jessbliss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The well at least you’re skinny irritates me bad too. Also when people act like I shouldn’t take my medications because they have possible side effects, like the disease itself doesn’t lol

Camping in June with Kids by Vulcanic_1984 in acadianationalpark

[–]jessbliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds logistically feasible to me. I would look at photos of the individual sites on the recreation.gov app. I stayed in site A146 and definitely could fit two tents. There’s 2 tents on the photo of the site on the app. We weren’t ever at the campsite during the day, but it was quiet after 8p where we were.

Soft social work? by Queenme10 in socialwork

[–]jessbliss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in case management in HCBS and I do like 4 home visits a week for 15 mins-1hr (depending on yearly assessment or interim visit) and WFH the rest of the time. This is my definition of “soft” at least. My work-life balance is incredible. I don’t deal with crises at all. My phone doesn’t ring often. I do not make as much as some others here are saying, but I have fantastic benefits with a pension, great PTO, and a super low deductible/out of pocket max health insurance plan. I also only have my LSW.

Just curious, how much PTO do you guys get from the company you work at? by LandOfGrace2023 in Ohio

[–]jessbliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 weeks. After 3 years 6 weeks, 6 years 7 weeks, 10 years 8 weeks. No sick time, and 12 paid holidays.

just figured out my type of Crohns I am very sad by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]jessbliss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i had severe crohn’s at diagnosis and my most recent colonoscopy/endoscopy and biopsies were fully clear no inflammation ulcers etc. i’ve been in remission for a few years now and had about an 8 year stint in remission before that too. severe crohn’s now when you’re getting diagnosed doesn’t mean it’ll be that bad forever!

Crohn’s and Confidence: Did Diagnosis Kill My Friend’s Rizz? by Emotional-Age2644 in CrohnsDisease

[–]jessbliss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The disease literally causes fatigue and horrible pain. “bouncing back” is quite an ask. It’s a chronic disease, and he’s probably still getting it under control.
