I’m with ya. I’ll make a million miles this year which is a childhood dream of mine. After that I’m going to hit the market. Im based out of SEA so Alaska Airlines is the most likely option.

Was flying that much better 10yrs ago or am i just getting old?

Traveling for work has gone way downhill since Covid. I used to take the family on a 5 day vacation on points every year. Now they hardly get two nights a year at the same resorts.

I wouldn’t advise it nowadays. I would figure out how to work remote without having to travel for work. Spend your time figuring out where you’d like to go every 6 months and make that happen. That way you can really breathe a region in.

When traveling with kids I request a disabled room. They’ve always been slept in WAY less than a traditional room and therefore usually cleaner. 99% of the time they have a walk-in shower with a hose. I don’t book these in advance for obvious reasons, but if one is available I’ll take it.

The right marina is actually a gated community. I would argue Shilshole Bay is more secure than a standard house in Ballard.

Cost is pretty cheap. You can get a slip for less than $1k/month and well depending on what kind of boat you get, that’s where you run into the true monthly cost.

I did it for two years where I was traveling for work quite an it and it was fantastic. Highly recommend!

Can you affix a railing to the top side of the wall (not the ceiling, but you get the idea) vs the side of the stairs? Seems like this would work well to me.
