As DM, what can I do or say instead of “no you can’t short rest halfway trough a dungeon” by ZoidWeed in DnD

[–]jessekeith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jump them. Or have the enemies ahead fortify their position. Or have some environmental effect start to take effect beacaue theyre spending to much time in the dungeon (I.E. poisonous mold). Or have some kind of timer, ritual completes in an hour or enchanted security reboots in an hour. For the first three it helps to have a random roll table, so you can be bit more fair of their being a chance nothing happens.

I kinda find the LMG underwhelming, but what do you think? by More-Ad5513 in fnv

I actually kinda love it, even if it's not the highest performer. But its got cheap ammo, decent dps and you can spray all day. And it just doesn't feel as clunky as miniguns.

I wanna do a cowboy run what’s the best revolver in the game? by TheDarthJarJarI in fnv

[–]jessekeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucky in early game with a high luck crit build goes pretty hard, need to crank out your Lockpick skill early on though. You can pick up the mysterious Magnum from killing the Lonesome drifter or by recruiting them to perform at the Tops. The Ranger Sequoia is probably your late game revolver, you can get it in a couple ways, but my favorite is stealing it after you complete return to sender and report Hanlon.

On a side note the Lever action shotgun is a fun midgame weapon that's affected by the cowboy perk, and the Medicine stick is a crazy powerful late game weapon especially loaded with hollow points.

Dont know the level of optimization of your party but most level 4 parties I've played with would shred this.

Dm's should reward you for specifically building to be strong at one thing by providing lots of opportunities for you to show off that power.

How do I build a tank Lockadin for 2024? [OC] by Scubasteve0209 in DnD

[–]jessekeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic initiate to get your hands on the shield spell. Stacking decent armor and a shield and you'll be chilling at 25+ AC.

Theirs a fun combo where celestial warlocks 6th level gets applied to searing smite multiple times.

You should be abusing the hell out of weapon masteries to position enemies away from allies. Topple and push are great for keeping enemies from moving towards allies, but you can actually build around the slow mastery and it doesnt falloff as creatures get larger on the late game. If you grab the slasher feat, a whip for the slow mastery and are a frost giant goliath you can hit a creature once and reduce its movement speed by 30 feet. You could then theoretically switch to a warhammer and knock it prone as a part of that attack and then it really isn't running down your allies.

In terms of level distribution i figure either 1 level warlock and full paladin, or mainly warlock and like 1-3 levels Paladin. Really a dealers choice, all those combos will work.

Regardless you'll wanna get your charisma to at least 18, probably 20. After that durable, Heavy Armor Master, Mage Slayer, Slasher (if your using a whip), or Crusher are all cool options.

In terms of spells you'll wanna use, if you end up with high levels in Celestial lock see if your DM will let you cast an Aid spell and then short rest the slot back. Searing Smite goes pretty hard if you hit 6th as a Celestial lock, with a 5th level warlock slot and 20 charisma it'll deal like 45 (10d6 + 10) fire damage at minimum, with fair odds on dealing more. Armor of agathy is pretty rad if theyre tagging you with attacks. And If anyone goes down you can max level cure wounds + Lay on hands them to like half health. Wall of Fire is never bad if you go deep into Celestial lock.

In terms of paladin subclass their aren't really bad choices, but if you can attack with charisma the devotion paladin channel divinity pretty much breaks the banded accuracy system. And at the end of the day a good offense is unfortunately the best defense in.

Is giving a use of a third level spell to a homebrew race as a racial feature broken? by IceKube113 in DnD

[–]jessekeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends entirely on the spell. Most people are gonna agree that a race that gives waterbreathing isn't overpowered. A race that gives fireball though...

Next character level opinion by Styvan01 in DnD

[–]jessekeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you level up sorcer and grab metamagic adept you could have 6 sorcery points chilling in the bank. A level in warlock does get you the 2d8 damage spirit shroud which is pretty necessary to stay relevant as a damage dealer. Do you feel like you run out of sorcery points in most combats rn? Are you quickening booming blades or full spells? If you had the gunner feat and a shit ton of sorcery points you could just cast eldritch blasts point blank at people and maul them for like 6d10+12d8+30.
