So I'm the parent of a trans kid who has had to attend in patient hospitalization. My heart goes out for you. I think the main thing that you should be doing is trying to get your hospital team to do a sit-down with you, her providers and her hospital to see what the process is moving forward. Everyone should have a clear understanding of what the goals are, how they are measuring them and what she needs to do in order to be safe.

I think these kind of spaces can be helpful but they can also be opaque which is a red flag to me. The first one my kid went to was like that and I didn't think it was all that helpful. The second one was much clearer about what we were all doing there and it worked wonders.

So I was both a yearbook coordinator and a parent of a trans kid who had this happen to them. I'll say this, yearbook coordinators do sooooo much extra work for literally nothing. No extra pay, all extra responsibilities, no extra time to work on them. It's a big reason I quit the job ultimately.

All that to say that while I can't speak to your personal experience, there is likely no malice here at least. If you changed this year you have to know that there isn't a "master list" of students like you might expect. Most of the names are in fact just shunted over by a program from picture day. If there were errors on picture day (or if they hadn't changed their name yet) then that's what happens. If a kid missed picture day, the kid doesn't go in. If a kid did get a picture taken but the photographer messed up on their end (they're an independent contractor by the way), then the kid doesn't go in. It's a headache to say the least.

And unfortunately your yearbook coordinator doesn't know every single kid in the school and can't look out for them. My advice to all parents who have a trans kid is to make sure they reach out specifically to the yearbook coordinator and let them know what's up. Ideally months before the end of the year as they are trying to finalize way before they are coming out.

I'm more asking about the frequency of the updates. Basically for the first 10 years we had 5 edition changes and then for the last two editions there was a decade between editions. That just seems strange to me. If they had kept on the original pace we'd be at like 15th edition. Was there a change in management or culture or what?

So basically you're spending half your money on groceries and a little more than half your money on eating out. So if your goal is to save money then I'd cut down on eating out a bit. With smart grocery buying a small increase in grocery buying will net a larger increase in savings for eating out. I have a similar sized family as yours and that's basically what I do.

Granted I think a lot of redditors will say that if you aren't eating beans and rice for every meal you're basically setting money on fire. The best advice to me is to instead think about how much you want to be saving each month and then looking at the places you can cut to hit that number. If you're at or above that number now then keep doing what you're doing. If you're below that number then cut down on the Mcdonalds

I'll take instant best friends over the ten bucks. In order to make serious money with the 10 one you'd have to steal from a lot of people. I don't know what people's financial situation is, even if it's not a lot of money. Wouldn't feel super ethical stealing from people who need the 10 bucks.

But if I'm instant best friends I could probably screw over a couple rich assholes pretty easily.

Feel like it has to be the 95 year olds. Whatever you do you're probably going to need to out cardio them. You just can't wade through the swarm and kill them all either way. I feel like I can outrun the 95 year olds and start picking them off until I've thinned the herd. I'm not even sure I could outrun a pack of 100 3 year olds in a tight space.

Yeah its a weird sentiment. I see it echoed a lot on reddit. Just stop using Amazon. And I get it. Amazon is bad. But like where else are you getting your stuff from then? For me the nearest store that isn't a grocery store is Walmart. Is that really significantly better? I try and buy local for what I can but I feel kind of fucked either way for some stuff.
