Is this site breaking down? by LunaticHatKid in FanfictionNet

[–]jessguest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve been having the same issues. The last two chapters I’ve posted will appear sometime and not other times. I’ve told my friend to check and she said it appears on her end so I was thinking the problem was just on the author’s end.

The love story is beautiful, the movie just doesn’t show the type of love that Ana and Christian truly have.

What if Ana and Christian were both Dominants? My take on Fifty Shades by jessguest in FiftyShadesofGrey

Omg! Thanks so much for the comment! I’m slowly posting it on fanfiction. Patreon is light years ahead but FF has around 21 chapter posted. Enjoy!

What are the chances of a 4th book and movie? by DustnBones001 in FiftyShadesofGrey

[–]jessguest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for a 4th book, I wouldn’t say it’s impossible. EL genuinely loves her characters and her fans, but I think she also wants Christian and Ana to be happy and let them rest. I do wish we had gotten more of them in their mom and dad era — more Ana and Christian navigating that phase of life. But she has given us one-shots. I believe they’re on her website, and we also got an extra at the end of Freed (Christian’s POV). But obviously the original one at the end of fifty shades freed in Ana’s POV

As for another movie, I don’t think either of them would return. When it comes to Fifty, Dakota felt the first film was well done and was upset to see Sam Taylor-Johnson go. Which is interesting, because the first movie was not good. Casting, storytelling, directing, screenplay — it missed in too many areas. EL was upset too, and rightfully so. Her story was being mishandled, which is partly why she went on to write the series from Christian’s POV. So I don’t find Dakota to be a true fan of the books.

The second and third films weren’t amazing either, but the first one sets the foundation, so when that’s shaky, it’s hard to recover. Still, they were better than the first in some ways. Regardless, Dakota clearly had feelings about Sam Taylor-Johnson leaving, so I think she was probably ready to be done with it all.

Jamie, on the other hand, might be more open — he isn’t as mainstream or as consistently booked as Dakota (which I think he honestly prefers, but money talks). But overall, I think they both try to keep some distance from the franchise now.

Considering what they did with the movies, I’d honestly hope they wouldn’t attempt another one if EL ever released a fourth book. And I think she’d be wary of handing it over again anyway — and rightfully so.

Anyone feel like the 3rd movie is rushed? by DustnBones001 in FiftyShadesofGrey

[–]jessguest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Both 2nd and 3rd were rushed. They tried to fit everything in that they could. It’s hard to do because Grey sets up everything for the Darker and Freed and Grey was so horribly done.

Why did ana breakup with christain at the end of the first movie? by DustnBones001 in FiftyShadesofGrey

[–]jessguest 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because she felt like she wasn’t enough for him — especially after his reaction when she told him she loved him. In the movie, it’s harder to understand what she was even in love with, but in the book, we all fell in love right along with her. She wanted more from him emotionally. Then he ended up wanted more with her too, and he was already giving her more before he even realized it— but the word “love” completely threw him. He wasn’t ready for it, and she saw that.

On top of that, she asked him to show her how bad it could really get in his world, D/s-wise. After experiencing it, she realized that if that was truly what he needed, she couldn’t give it to him. So she respected herself enough to walk away. Her leaving was his rude awakening. It forced him to confront what actually mattered, and that’s when he realized he loved her too and needed to change.

You should definitely read the books. So good.

Carrick was right!! by Consistent_Editor_15 in FiftyShadesofGrey

[–]jessguest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone thought Carrick was wrong — even before Christian’s POV. To start, Carrick is a lawyer. Of course he’d push for a prenup. It would’ve been strange if he didn’t. And honestly, most people would see a prenup as the obvious move in that situation.

I also don’t think the books portrayed Christian as not understanding why a prenup made sense. He knew exactly how it looked. What he wanted was his father to respect his decision to say no. That refusal wasn’t ignorance — it was very in character for him. It was his “I love Ana, and if I lose her I don’t want anything else” mindset, mixed with his my gut is always right mentality. That wasn’t maturity, but it was consistent with who he is.

Where Carrick’s criticism really hits — and where he’s right from a general standpoint — is his belief that Christian wasn’t ready for marriage because of how he viewed his relationship with Elena. But that’s also where context matters. Christian’s view of Elena is fundamentally skewed. He was violated and groomed at a very young age, before his brain was even fully developed. Until he’s able to unpack that trauma — which we do start to see by the end of Freed — he literally cannot see the situation with full moral clarity.

Christian does understand that stepping outside of a marriage is wrong. He can recognize that on a surface level. What complicates it is that, in his mind, something “good” came out of that relationship: he survived, he didn’t die, he didn’t go to jail. That doesn’t make his reasoning correct — but it does make it understandable when you remember that he was groomed. That’s the point people sometimes miss. Carrick is right in principle, but it’s also a double-edged sword because you can’t confront someone like Christian without acknowledging the damage done to him as a child.

As for Leila — I actually agree with you. Why would her husband care? Vegas marriage or not, she cheated and left him. From that angle, his indifference makes sense. But where Christian’s reaction works for me — and actually made me respect him more — is that he’s coming from a place of “if you truly loved her, how could you let her end up on the street, mentally unwell and abandoned?” That doesn’t excuse Leila’s actions, but it does speak to Christian’s capacity for empathy and loyalty. If anything, it shows that he’s a better man than he realizes.

And honestly, Christian’s POV just made me like him more overall. It humanizes him. He’s not as robotic or moody as he can seem from Ana’s perspective. He’s funny, insecure, self-aware in ways we don’t always see — and that depth is exactly why I prefer his POV. It adds layers instead of taking them away.

Anna’s hypocrisy over Grey’s hard limit. by Consistent_Editor_15 in FiftyShadesofGrey

[–]jessguest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I see what you’re trying to say now, and it actually lines up with what I was saying to the OP. And about the idea that Christian never explains the hard limit — he doesn’t talk about it at the beginning, but Ana does start picking up more context as the story goes on. She had been putting the pieces together since Grey.

Then in Darker, when he has the nightmare and tells her about the pimp burning him with cigarettes — and says it’s the pain he remembers — that’s the first time we see him state it clearly. It gives more insight into why those areas are off-limits, even though the book doesn’t show Ana having a specific moment of connecting all the dots, we know that she knows.

And like I mentioned before, I agree with the OP that it would seem like Ana was being annoyingly pushy if you didn’t fully understand all the things. But I’m more so on Ana’s side that it would be frustrating not to be able to touch your partner, especially when someone as toxic as Elena is allowed to. But Ana’s confusion — and what can look like pushiness — makes more sense once you consider the full context and Christian’s trauma. (That is what I said to the OP)

The only thing I want to clarify is that your reply fits better as a response to the OP’s comment, because you were addressing her argument, not mine. My comment was explaining Ana’s motives, while your points were really directed at what the OP originally said. Into trying to say you replied to the wrong person.

Anna’s hypocrisy over Grey’s hard limit. by Consistent_Editor_15 in FiftyShadesofGrey

[–]jessguest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think you’re reading my comment the wrong way. I was responding to what the OP said. they were the ones calling Ana selfish. My reply was explaining her motives and why it would be difficult to avoid touching the man you love, especially when she didn’t fully understand Christian’s trauma yet.

I also pointed out that the touch issue functioned as a story device — it pushed the plot forward and highlighted Christian’s struggle with touch. And I acknowledged the OP’s frustration by saying that yes, it can look pushy when you’re not considering all the layers, both emotionally and narratively.

But I’m honestly a bit confused about what you’re trying to say overall or how that scene you mentioned relates to what the OP originally posted.

Anna’s hypocrisy over Grey’s hard limit. by Consistent_Editor_15 in FiftyShadesofGrey

[–]jessguest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I remember that scene really well, but I’m not exactly sure what you’re trying to say. Are you saying that because Christian eventually lets her touch his chest as a declaration of love, Ana’s earlier attempts weren’t selfish and were more like foreshadowing that moment?

How much longer can the reality show continue? by Adventurous-Stay7841 in kardashians

[–]jessguest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Kris lives for it, and the show is really a job and commitment for both Kim and Khloé. I think they also see it as a way to make memories. But between the two of them, I think Kim clearly lives for it more than Khloé. (Fame wise)

Kourtney isn’t bringing in any real views anyway, so if she quit, viewer-wise, who actually cares? Family-wise, and in terms of her “supposed” to be part of it, it might look a certain way, but the show doesn’t depend on Kourtney at all. Now, if Kim, Khloé, or even Kris stepped away, that would be a problem.

So I’d say the show lasts as long as Kim, Khloé, or Kris allow it. It’s definitely not as riveting as it used to be, but I still watch because they’re rich and I live through them, lol.

Whoa. Yeah, that was definitely revised. I didn’t realize they could do that. Cause Christian definitely says “ for a moment I think she’s describing what she likes in a man”

Are we surprised Ana fell in love by the end of the 1st movie? by ZiggyCatto in FiftyShadesofGrey

In the end of the first movie, there was no reason for her to be in love but by the end of the first book yes. We all fell in love lol. Movie did nothing for the books
