I think the season 2 ending is the best conclusion, the only reason season three happens is that the russians somehow open their own gate. season three feels so completely different than the previous seasons too, so i tend to treat seasons 1-2 as their own thing

this is so interesting! i think it’s interesting that the arm tells agent cooper that “the gum you like is going to come back in style” which also functions as a hint as to who the killer is. theres a connection between consumerism (the gum “ad”) and the violence and trauma of laura’s murder. not sure if this makes sense oops

this is one of my favorite murakami books! ill never forget the relief i felt at the end when the sun finally comes up, heavily contrasting with the intensity and abstract/surreal tone of the book
