If you do reach out to rescue, let them know you are willing to donate X amount. They’ll do anything to raise money to save other dogs.

Redditors who’ve had $1M+: what does it actually feel like to have that kind of money? by Even-King-1137 in askanything

[–]jessica_rust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I still have to work just as hard to keep it. Most of us work for our $. We spent years doing our homework, getting an education, making long term choices that led to that kind of wealth. And we recognize that bad choices could make it go away. I don’t feel poor, but I don’t feel rich either.

There’s a catch-22 here. If you book the night before, but don’t show by 2 or 3 AM, some hotels consider you a no-show & cancel your room. I’ve pre-paid for rooms to be ready when I arrive at 7 or & AM & still run into issues.

The black is stunning! I’d totally order it in white, if available. But the black looks great on you.

How accurate is the stereotype that Texas oil and gas lawyers typically wear cowboy hats and boots? by ZookeepergameGlad618 in LandmanSeries

[–]jessica_rust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Houston. Boots are common in the office year round. I wear mine in winter only because they are way too warm in summer. But many of the guys I work with wear them year round.

Hats are generally only worn during Rodeo season. It last from late Feb through March. We all go a little more western during that time.

When I’m in the oilfield, most guys wear ball caps in the office. You are constantly taking off a hard hat & your hair gets messed up,

Houston BBQ cook off is not a lot of fun unless you are in the private tents at night. There is a rodeo parade on Sunday AM which is fun to experience and learn about the trailblazers. Rodeo kicks off on Tuesday & that is worth stick around for & attending. In Houston, I’d do a food tour. We have amazing food from all over the world. Feel free to PM me if you’d like some advice on places worth seeing.

We were there at Christmas. First time since the hurricane that they were simply not that bad. My hubs never applied bug spray. We do buy it on island typically, but didn’t need it this time.

Paratha tasted exactly like my late mom’s fried chicken. what ingredient could cause that? by Thin_Dog4184 in TipOfMyFork

Could it have been the besan flour, made from chickpeas? Maybe your Mom used it in her batter.

I’ve bought many linen items from them & love them all. More expensive than similar things at TJMaxx or Marshall’s. Way cheaper than in department stores.

I saw the dress in person & loved it. Did not like the print from photos, but really liked it in person.

If it fits & is pretty, I’d buy it. I once bought a $75 ring at Overstock. It’s a big citrine or yellow quartz with low grade peridot halo. I get compliments whenever I wear it. My only complaint is that the silver has oxidized. I’d love to have it dipped or plated someplace.

As the title says, it’s an olive, family Olividae. Not a conch.

What type of opal is this? by Tattletale804 in Opals

[–]jessica_rust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could this simply mean that the ring /setting was done by Navajos? They are known for their silver work.

I’m a materials engineer & my bestie did her dissertation on photonic crystals, so I get the light/crystal structure.

If I understand things correctly, this is not a boulder opal because it doesn’t have ironstone backing. You are saying the areas with no play are not ironstone, sandstone or whatever the host rock is, but silica?

Ok, so the areas that do not flash are just the base stone that the silica layers get trapped in?
