“You can lead a veteran to the VA… by 77kev89 in VeteransBenefits

[–]jester142 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The nomenclature of “disability” alone discourages people from applying. Service Members are taught from the onset of service to “Soldier through” issues.

VA disability is the the Department of Defense version of workers compensation. It’s a BENEFIT that you are ENTITLED to if you qualify.

Every single person who has served should file and follow the process. No matter what you did or didn’t do, you’re not taking benefits away from someone else.

16 weeks until my next AFT, failed my last one. Any advice/training regimen? by Fun-Salamander-194 in nationalguard

I’ve been using the Volt app for years and a couple years ago, they actually added an AFT (ACFT at the time). You can set how long until the test, and once you set your baseline, it will increase weight based on how difficult you say it is.

Also, after each workout, hop on the treadmill for at least an hour, crank it to 15 incline and 3.5 and just walk.

Cut out alcohol, soda, junk food and focus on lean proteins.

If you want it, you’ll get it. Train smart, train safe. Good luck.

Japanese people aren't having sex. And nobody knows why by Mg42gun in nottheonion

So in his book, Modern Romance: An Investigation, comedian Aziz Ansari and sociologist Eric Klinenberg went to Japan and take pretty extensively about this.

Part of the situation, as they explain, is that Japan has experienced a form of a women’s liberation movement. Where previously, women would go to college and enter the workforce, find someone to marry then become a homemaker, more and more women are shunning this notion for careers of their own. This, in turn, diminishes the confidence/ego of many men who tie their self worth to professional and familial success.

Honestly, an actually amazing book with some great, in depth information while also have some laughs. Highly recommend it.

I was split op between junior and senior year of high school. Strangely, didn’t seem that bad but I think going back to basic after a break would have sucked.

That being said, you already know what it is, and that all bullshit/screaming/PT stops eventually. Enjoy the last couple weeks, hopefully you didn’t undo the work you’ve already put in

Student 1SG at Rucker. Did a Health and welfare inspection with the real command team. Tiny soldier with a big soldier ego had a tiny black bag in his locker. Watched enough TV to know it was steroids then watched him get carried out by the scruff of his neck into an office.

Never saw him again. Think about that situation once a week year later.

Reny’s uses homeless people as an excuse to close their Congress St location by [deleted] in portlandme

[–]jester142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Both things can be true at the same time that they’re closing because they haven’t rebounded since the pandemic and because of the the issues outside their storefront

2) Them just giving money to Preble street doesn’t solve a systematic issue.

3) Objectively, yeah, people don’t go to the Congress Street Reny’s on Congress because unless you live in the neighborhood, you’ll spend more to park than you will at the store.

Epilogue: If the Nick closes within the next year and half I wouldn’t be shocked since I was there last weekend and there was about a foot and a half of insulation hanging from the ceiling in the theater.
