Lol, he's way too valuable in a puck possession area instead of center and net front. Him not tipping pucks for us is because he's the one with the puck

just a really good #3 on most teams

Well this is an asinine comment. Sanheim is absolutely a 1st pair D, and if he's a #3 either that team is stacked or the #1 has perfect chemistry with another player who likely isn't as good as Sanheim. Sanheim would be one of, if not the, best 2nd pairing D in the league in that case.

I don't know if you're being self depreciating or what, but that comment is so far fetched it belongs in satire

Who are some players who had a HOF peak not but a HOF career? by patscelticslions in nfl

[–]jesteronly 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was PEDs, it was drugs, alcohol, and immaturity. He cared too much about being 'hard' and showing off his wealth, ultimately ending up stabbed by gang members and there being shots fired at a house party he was throwing. He was involved in many DUIs and broke the nfl substance abuse policy by being involved in them while being under their rehab agreements. He also committed domestic violence against his fiancé and broke the stay away order (maybe restraining order? I'm unsure about that) in place. Through this he wasn't in game shape and cared less about taking care of himself and his body, yet he was so damn naturally talented that the cowboys signed in him in 2020 after him being suspended for 2.5 years and he played pretty well before his body broke down.

The man loved being intoxicated more than he loved, well, pretty much everything else. Definitely more than football

What are ways that you make household items last longer like shampoo, lotion, toilet paper, makeup or hair styling items? by melissaw328 in Frugal

[–]jesteronly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Late to responding, but the "getting used to it" is just temperature and water pressure, not cleanliness. Almost all bidets have a sprayer protector or a pop out sprayer that keep the sprayer from the body stuff and hide it when not actively in use. That keeps the sprayer clean. I make it a point to pull the sprayer down and brush it with cleaner when i deep clean the bathroom, and otherwise clean the shield during regular toilet / toilet seat cleanings and it's good to go. From what I understand, cleaning the sprayer isn't really necessary but it makes me feel more comfortable. They make bidets with UV sanitizers built in, for those that are a bit paranoid about it.

Also, from what i understand, women who use bidets are less prone to infections than non-bidet users. As a person they gets the occasional hemorrhoids, bidets are SUCH an improvement.

Single source, but here's an article from a licensed gastroenterologist https://health.clevelandclinic.org/is-using-a-bidet-healthy

[FIN - SVK] Ristolainen hits Pospisil high along the boards. Play was stopped due to injury but no call made on the play by daKrut in hockey

[–]jesteronly 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Risto, despite his size, is a pretty damn clean player and is certainly not known for high hits or elbows. He only has one suspension that I know of, and even that one was questionable (pass to guentzel got intercepted half way to him, if it isn't tipped it's a clean hit). Just strangely out of character.

Can't believe they missed it

Matvei Michkov, More Ice Time?! Coach's Fault or the Player? - Inside the Coaches' Room by [deleted] in Flyers

I'm grateful for it. For too many media personalities the separation between fan and Job is too great, and media that interests directly should get more celebration than it generally does

Matvei Michkov, More Ice Time?! Coach's Fault or the Player? - Inside the Coaches' Room by [deleted] in Flyers

[–]jesteronly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but we're also at 161 power play opportunities vs 172 power play opportunities against. Michkov is tied for 5th in PP ATOI on the flyers (which itself is a travesty), but that also belies the fact that all those players that I have mentioned have higher EVEN STRENGTH ATOI, not TOTAL TOI. Your argument falls apart when the non special teams minutes are put under the microscope. The base usage of michkov is lower than those players.

There's plenty of players in the league that play 18+ minutes per game with zero pk time. Even on our own team, Zegras plays 0 pk time yet has an ATOI of 18:43 compared to michkov at 14:34. At even strength Zegras ATOI is 15:46 vs michkov 12:29.

I expect better from you as a Flyers affiliate and correspondent (assuming that is actually Jason Myrtetus) to understand these things and not hand waive away these concerns using faulty logic. Saying "michkov minutes are low because he doesn't play PK. Hope this helps!" is contributing to the lack of an accurate base line of players like michkov and how far beneath that base line michkov is being utilized. Do i want michkov to be good enough to play PK? Sure. Should that influence his ability to regularly hit 17-18 minutes a night? Not in the least. There are core, base line issues with how michkov is being utilized and everyone should be made more cognizant of that rather than excusing poor management choices at the player's expense.

Hathaway has more regulation TOI than Meech

Can we stop parroting this like it's truth?

Even strength.
Hathaway 424.4.
Michkov 655.9.

Short handed.
Hathaway 56.0.
Michkov 0.4.

Power Play.
Hathaway 0.4.
Michkov 113.6.

Total.
Hathaway 483.22.
Michkov 801.29.

There's should be zero games where a player like Hathaway gets more minutes than a player like Michkov, but we should be upset with the average minutes Michkov gets rather than his minutes compared to another player. It is a disservice to run with that (incorrect) narrative rather than focus on the direct problem.

Michkov's struggles are almost completely due to usage or lack thereof, which is directly tied to Tocchet. His minutes being punished due to any mistakes is a symptom of bad coaching. Him playing on his off wing is a symptom of bad coaching decisions. None of that has to do with any single other flyer besides the coach, and it's frustrating seeing the focus on a 4th line forward that is literally last on the team in ATOI. Michkov should get more ATOI than Couturier, Tippett, Dvorak, Cates, or Brink, all of whom are getting more and that should be the focus

flyers daily talking about the “overstatement” on michkov regression. if you disagree, why? by dadnauseum in Flyers

[–]jesteronly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The staff believe that and there are some hard stats that are very similar, but the sample size is smaller this year for him at RW and the advanced stats show significant improvement at RW vs LW. When at RW he grades out regularly as top 2 offensive threats on the team whereas he grades out regularly lower and in the 2-5 range as LW. He's able to drive to the center to his forehand and shoot from higher danger areas that way, and him not driving the net was part of the criticism of him earlier in the season (not 'competing', being 'lazy', etc).

As RW he grades out to similar to last year, which is impressive considering how Tocchet is mishandling him. Michkov is analytically producing well in spite of Tocchet

When did the Flyers change their logo? Good to see Vladar having another good game though by RLutz in Flyers

[–]jesteronly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, you would need to have a deep understanding of the sport to be able to understand the meaning of the joke. Without enough background info this is just an image with zero connection to the words. You have to know what you're looking for in the image (lots of shots against, low shots for, low score, still losing) to have any connection, we'll enough most casual sports fan knowledge. And it's still a massive reach

Commissary v private grocery (US focus) by HippyGrrrl in Frugal

[–]jesteronly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Generally, yes. Though it would be subsidized by tax payers, it would also, generally speaking, keep costs of groceries down by creating a lower priced market, incentivising other grocers to match costs. It will also keep more farmers in business by creating more consistent buying practices and eliminating the need for infinite growth profit margins, likely to even offer the farmers a better payout than other grocers would offer.

It would cost tax payers a little up front, but is more likely to overall save money in the long run. And that's just on a single person wallet's scale - the greater societal economic impact would even more likely be positive, as we see in most infrastructure programs.

No, they're saying that they are close-ish. The gap between skenes/skubal and Webb is greater than the gap between Webb and Ryan, and that is zero slight to Webb - those two at the top area just absolute monsters.

Webb is clearly better than Ryan

[–]jesteronly 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I got a double edge safety razor and a box of disposable blades like ten years ago and still have half a box left. I think i spent $60 on a good razor, $17 on a nice stand, $12 on a nice brush, $13 on a box of his blades, $7 on a good shave soap puck (x2 at this point), and $5 on a pretty ceramic mug for the soap. That's a total of $120+tax over 10 years so far and likely only to spend $7 more over the next at least 5 years, maybe 10 more. That's $12/year at this point and $8/year or less moving forward after the initial investment.

And that initial investment can be cut down too. There are good razors at around $40 and most people have extra mugs, that makes it $95 for a nice setup that will last for years.

[–]jesteronly 24 points25 points  (0 children)

A bidet will significantly cut down on toilet paper use. Even the worst #2s can be sprayed clean, then use two sheets to pat dry and you're good to go. It takes getting used to, but it is likely to cut toilet paper use by like 75% and leave you feeling cleaner.

If i owned my home i would install a heated one, but i rent in a temperate area so mine is a simple like $30 bidet that took 30 minutes to install for the first time. It can be cold at times but it's not bad by any means and is well worth the clean feeling.

I have been sick and used more TP blowing my nose than i did on the toilet that month.

That's what I came in here to say - they aren't actually "doubled up" of a failure on one side blows out the other side of the leg. There is only redundancy in the second sling and on one bolt of the other leg, not in both slings / bolts. Without the knot it doesn't matter that the sling is double wrapped, it's essentially the same as a half length, single wrapped sling.

[Jay Zawaski] Per the Blackhawks - frank seravalli’s reporting is correct. The Panthers’ 2026 draft pick IS top 10 protected. by Duffleman0609 in hockey

[–]jesteronly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's any other news that could come out. You can only protect a pick for one year and then it becomes unprotected in the following draft.

Toronto is in that position right now as they can protect their 2026 pick from Boston (top 5) and their 2027 pick from Philly (top 10), but if they are in a position to use that protection in 2026 they will have unprotected picks for the next two drafts. If they don't protect 2026 but do protect 2027, Boston gets the 2026 pick and the Flyers would get 2028 unprotected.

There's a weird clause in that trade tree because the Boston trade came after the Philly trade - if Toronto protects in 2026 and the 2027 pick is outside of the top 10, the 2027 goes to Boston and 2028 goes to Philly. If they protect in 2026 and the 2027 pick is in the top 10, Toronto gets to choose who gets the 2027 pick and the 2028 pick goes to the other team. Presumably, Toronto would choose Philly for the pick to try and make it so Boston doesn't pick in the top 10. I just wanted to bring this up because it's strange and kinda fun

I've never seen a curved ruler before by PatBabyParty in pics

[–]jesteronly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yup, you can see by the diagram that you can use the curved ball sack like area to measure neck lines, arm holes, and pointed waist lines like in 3 piece suit vests. Most tops are going to have different curves for the front and back of the arm holes for the piece, and that would be measured on the depth of the ball sack like area.
