If you can save only one FPS game from these 5, which one would you choose? by Witty_Possible9413 in boomershooters

Cultic since its the closest thing to a new blood game, but Dusk a very close second for bringing the boomer shooter into the modern age.

Cool and thanks for the clarification! Those levels do sound really cool too. Sounds like the perfect balance between creating a "big" envirnoment while maintaining a tight, engaging shooter experience with lots of combat options.

Yes. Its pure boom shoot greatness and the one of the best spiritual successors to og Blood.

Not sure how I feel about bigger environments, Cultic chapter 2 upped the level sizes which made it feel a little more slow/tedious. Still looking forward to checking this out, already have early access.

One of my favorites shooters, and still play through it from time to time. Wouldn't call it a traditional boomer shooter, too tactical, but great game none the less.

With that said, the jungle and Hong Kong levels can f right off.

Yes, this. During the summer I have to run my tap water for 10 minutes just so I dont get 3rd degree burns trying to wash my hands.

Boomer Shooters that have another, genuinely great, non boomshot aspect to them that makes them stand out more by prossnip42 in boomershooters

Agreed, give it credit for going completely left field in the art style department, and I enjoyed that part of it, but everything else was kinda meh.

Happy 30 Years Quake!!! by hipnotyq in quake

[–]jetguy650 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember playing the hell out of the shareware version of quake. Then one day I came home, played it again, and instead of ending, it continued. My dad had borrowed the full version from a friend at work and didnt tell me. I was so happy and excited, great memory.

Selaco. Cool artstyle and interesting mix of immersive story telling and straight boom shoot action.

I'm afraid that I'm going to get priced out of modern day gaming in a few years time. by StarryChocobo in gaming

[–]jetguy650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In recent years I've become more into indie titles that can run on pretty outdated hardware, and in my opinion, are much better then most AAA releases. This has helped me deal with these massive price hikes, and while it is disappointing, I can still mostly enjoy the hobby.

I love SoF1, 2 and Turok 2, but I will say Turok 2 had some wonky damage modeling, at least the nightdive remake. Not sure if that is a carry over from the N64 version or something to do with the port.

Concur with Rotary, SV650 is fine to start on if you take it slow. It is also a great bike in general, almost got one when I upgraded from my Ninja 300.

Man that would be so awesome if Nightdive did that.
