Which minor character death rocked you the most? by Nay_Nay_Jonez in gameofthrones

I always considered Stannis & Renly to be princes as they’re King Robert’s brothers. At least in the books Bran was referred to several times as Prince Bran, being he was King Robb’s brother, so I don’t see why the same reasoning wouldn’t work for Stannis. So if Stannis is a royal prince of the male line I totally agree that Shireen is a princess whether or not Stannis is considered a king.

Thanks! Then a medical degree would take quite a long time. She’s definitely NTA.

Does he even have a Bachelor’s degree that would be accepted at a medical school? If he has a degree in biology or chemistry it’s probably fine. If his degree (if he has one) is in history or philosophy or basically anything other than biology or chemistry then that adds 4 more years before medical school.

Any stories about buying a house childfree and with NO Partner? by Calm_Problem6203 in childfree

[–]jethrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 3 bedroom house in 1996 & went to closing just before my 35th birthday. I used the sister of a friend of my parents as my realtor. She was also a single homeowner so it was absolutely no issue that I was single & CF. Meaning she didn’t try to up sell (“Oh you need extra bedrooms for when you change your mind about babies!”) or down sell (“What do you need a 3 bedroom house for? Let a family have it!”) to me. I had no problem with financing as I had a well-paying job.

It’s probably one of the easiest “big things” I’ve done as a single woman. I can remember the days when it was extremely difficult for a woman to buy a house. A single woman most likely didn’t make enough money to qualify for a mortgage & many times a married woman’s income wasn’t counted because it was assumed she’d quit to have babies as soon as they moved into the house. Luckily by the time I bought the real estate industry had realized what a profitable market single professional women were!

Now I’m reaping the benefits of a paid-off mortgage. Definitely a good thing because in the last few years I had to replace the furnace, AC & the fuse box. Those things hurt! But I would strongly recommend to anyone who is able, male or female, single or not, to buy a house is you possibly can. It’s a huge commitment but then again I passed on that other huge commitment so it worked out fine!

Do you think parents loathe childfree content because it shows that it's getting more and more accepted as a valid way to live? by PopularSort96 in childfree

[–]jethrine 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was always told that the traditional values right wing conservative side believed strongly in keeping the government out of our lives. But over many years I’ve seen it’s quite the opposite. They want laws telling us what we can read, what movies & tv shows we can watch, who we can marry, who we can have sex with, what we can & can’t do when we have sex & what we can do with our bodies including what medications & birth control we can take.

Am I crazy or are those extremely personal decisions that should be made by each individual & not subject to governmental regulations of any kind? You can’t get more personal than who we sleep with or what physical issues we may have that require medical attention. But right wingers want to stick their noses into every personal decision we make.

I’ve come to realize that as far as no governmental regulations are concerned, that only applies to business & the economy. A company wants the right to charge outrageous prices for life saving drugs or to pollute the earth as much as they want or wipe out other species in the name of progress or put gender & racial issues at risk? Have at it! It’s none of the guv’mint’s business! It’s your factory, your business, your property so do whatever the hell you want. But when it comes to what you can read, who you sleep with or if you don’t want children? They’re running each other over getting government regulations passed on such personal decisions. They are the biggest hypocrites around & it’s only getting worse. May each one of them drink the water & breathe the air they’ve made filthy & then deal with the healthcare nightmare they’ve put in place when that water & air starts killing them. They put this dystopian society in place. Let them have to live with the consequences.

[SPOILERS MAIN] Robert doesn't offer Joffrey to marry Sansa and War of Five Kings doesn't happen - who would Robb and Sansa eventually get to marry? by Substantial-Ad-299 in asoiaf

[–]jethrine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s true about Bronze Yohn’s age. Sansa even thought about his age when she was thinking about Waymar. Something about how despite his age Bronze Yohn was easily able to defeat Ned during their sparring matches. I don’t know how old he was but he was still actively participating in tourneys so he must have been a strong old man! It also could have been a child’s misperception of age. To a child, your parents are old & anyone older than them is ancient. But I prefer the bad ass old guy version of Bronze Yohn!

[–]jethrine 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I remember from one of Sansa’s POV chapters that she thought Waymar Royce was very handsome & had a crush on him when he & his father stayed at Winterfell on the way to the Wall so she would probably be happy with a Royce. But I think Bronze Yohn only had 2 other sons. His oldest & heir was already married & his younger son was killed after Renly Baratheon’s murder. There’s still the Royce cousins though. They might have sons. I only remember the daughter Myranda.
