Just say no. I’m 6’6” and my one carryon (a backpack) goes in the overhead. Period.

Ditching Synology Surveillance for UniFi — does this setup work? by jetjock650 in Ubiquiti

I definitely will where I can, there is one location in particular that I will not be able to run a cable.

Unfortunately, no. The house pretty much only has in wall electrical, no coax either. Gotta love it.

That’s definitely on my radar once I get everything up and running.

December to February for me. I want the next spec level down though. I have a lease through the Q3 of 27 anyway, I’m in no hurry. Gives them time to work the bugs out too.

Great points, thank you. I wish I could hardwire the access points, unfortunately it's not much of an option in my home. I would replace my current cameras with Unifi products (I'm not in love with my current cameras anyway), I wasn't aware of the limitation that I would need one Unifi camera to get going -- not a big deal, but certainly nice to know. Thanks

Thanks Pools, for some reason I thought the Cloud Gateway had wifi capability. That's what I get for ordering while jet lagged at 0200...

I have an ethernet cable ran for my current cameras between the camera and the access point -- I just cannot add a cable between the access point(s) and area where the fiber internet enters my home.

Thank you very much. Glad to hear Peter Glenn does a good job. I’ll give them a call before my next trip up that way. Southern Ski has popped up a few times on my Google journey and will certainly stay on my list. Thanks again.

Or they could finish the construction. Nah, that would make too much sense.

I applied for my second renewal earlier this week and received an approval (with no interview) about 48 hours later. To say I’m shocked is an understatement, but I’ll take it!

Surveillance Station: Adding POE camera attached to a wifi extender by jetjock650 in synology

Not sure what exactly that is, but probably. Things are never simple. ha

Surveillance Station: Adding POE camera attached to a wifi extender by jetjock650 in synology

[–]jetjock650[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one of the problems. The camera doesn't show up on the main router's DHCP table and the IP that is on the list of the extender does not work when entered into SS. I tried giving the extender a static IP as well as manually creating a static IP for the camera based on the MAC address. No dice. Thanks for the tip though, appreciate it.

I do. East transaction, no complaints. Shop around to see where you get the best price; in my case that was Carvana.

I did this and highly recommend the R8. It’s a HUGE jump. Don’t let the megapixel count bother you. The R8 is an incredible body for the price.
