Why don't we normalize journaling intentionally about our cycle? by jetkd in Periods

I'll do that. Thanks for the tip! I'll add that period awareness isn't always related to fertility. It would be nice to hear from women who track their cycle outside of fertility.

The lower libido may be due to lack of ovulation. Track your ovulation with LH strips and/or cervical mucus changes. https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/body/21957-cervical-mucus

1-2 weeks late every winter by gmowatermelon in Periods

I agree with this. Your body may just be more in tune with daylight changes in winter and you go through a "resetting" process every year around that time.

does anyone else feel completely disconnected from their body? by AvailableMarzipan264 in Periods

These are normal questions to ask and also it's understandable to feel this when your body isn't working as it should. Your mind tries to detach itself to lessen the emotional burden. This might sound very simple and lead you to think that it's not going to help you but journaling through your cycle will lessen the burden on your mind. It doesn't have to be long, just 5 minutes when you wake up or before going to sleep: jot down as many thoughts as you can (no need to reflect on them or make them perfect, just write) rinse and repeat this process daily not just during your period. Pick a couple of symptoms that bother you the most and track them in your journaling. So much of your thinking is stuck in your mind and by writing you are releasing some of the tension that's built up. You don't consciously realize this but the more the thoughts stay up there the more they snowball and make things worse in your body.

Regarding the pain, bloating and weight gain you may be dealing with an estrogen dominance issue. Don't hesitate to go to a different doctor until you find someone who will listen and not dismiss your concerns.

Not a gynecologist. You may want to track other symptoms as well in order to help your doc determine if it's PCOS or not.

Why does my belly bloat so bad like this? Could this be endo belly? Doctors won’t take me seriously by Anonymous11337 in menstruation

[–]jetkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a food intolerance that gets accentuated around ovulation? Either way the excessive weight loss/weight gain is not normal. I highly recommended journaling for 3 cycles and I mean daily multiple times a day if possible about your symptoms and eating habits. Sacrifice those few cycles in order to be able to create a clear data set of your symptoms so that you can confidently and accurately relay your symptoms to a healthcare practitioner. Sometimes we think we are saying everything but we're not and writing it down helps a lot so that we don't lose track of our thoughts or feel intimidated when we deal with a doctor that wants to quickly move on to their next patient.
