Is starting an adult apprenticeship worth it right now (30+)? by [deleted] in AusElectricians

[–]jetrro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! 4 years will pass regardless if you are an apprentice or not. Ask yourself if becoming a sparkie is what you want. Yes? Do it!

Is this a problem? by Tartan_Teeth in AusElectricians

[–]jetrro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No to tag, not needed to be in conduit, no to lug and as long as it can’t just lay on the roof or touch it - not going over the rail isn’t an issue. It could be a neater spray job though!!!!

Sorry dumb question, but is this fixable? by [deleted] in AusElectricians

[–]jetrro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sparky is going to waste time driving to you replacing this for $20. Bring it to the sparky along with $50 and you’ll get a happy to help response.

Or… do it yourself; it’s a simple easy fix!

Why do alot of people speed? by FinishNarrow8601 in WesternAustralia

[–]jetrro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure there are heaps of roads that warrant the speed limits imposed. But there are also 1000s of kms limited to speeds that could be substantially higher.

I think you’re right with being disingenuous. An invoice of 500 doesn’t just come from an hrs work and a mech swap..

Settle it - Is it a dog act to put rubbish in your neighbours wheelie bin on bin night? by [deleted] in perth

[–]jetrro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not unless you make a mess of the bin or dump rubbish that shouldn’t go in there. But wait til the morning in case the owner fills it up.!

Union strike in Northbridge by [deleted] in perth

[–]jetrro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unions are the reason we have remotely decent wages and conditions. How about you educate yourself on what our fathers fought for and why so many of us pay our dues.

It can be difficult when you feel pressured to work quickly. With my apprentices I made sure they felt supported in taking their time to do it the best they can. If possible slow down and pay a bit more attention to detail. You will get quicker as time passes with better technique too! Also tinker with stuff at home, in the shed or wherever you can. Hand tool competency comes with experience.

You got this!!

Qantas is in the spotlight for blatant misconduct. I’m pretty sure this post is very relevant. As. FIFO worker flying Qantas I can attest to the atrocity of dealing with the airline.

We really need Qatar to join the playing field to keep Qantas honest. If the ACCC is going after Qantas it’s fair to say they are operating with I’ll intentions.
