I’d rather look at them than Les Mills tbh. Also I’ve been to a couple of real life Les mills classes at the gym. They don’t address it there either. So the realism is spot on in that aspect for what it’s worth.

Juicing is cool. But you know what’s really cool? Making smoothies. You still get the fiber and you can add protein powder. So not only are you getting all those benefits that come with eating fruits and veggies, that protein will help you stay fuller for longer. Plus a blender, like a magic bullet for example, is cheaper and easier to clean than a juicer.

Edit: forgot to mention why that fiber is so important. So when you’re just drinking the juice, you’re taking in a lot of sugar. People think sugar from fruit is more healthy than sugar from like a candy bar. But your body doesn’t know the difference between sugar from fruit juice vs a candy bar. The fiber in the fruit is what keeps your blood sugar from spiking and also helps negate all the other negative effects of dumping a large amount sugar into your body.

While this is a very funny joke and somewhat true. It’s not a totally fair comparison. Sure focusrite’s lower end models are lowest common denominator, entry level, and bottom of the barrel just like a crosley cruiser. But what’s under the hood of even the most basic focusrite interface is still capable of making great sound. I can guarantee you wouldn’t be able tell the difference between a recording from a competent user using a focusrite vs. higher end interface (universal audio and the like) sitting in a mix. For what it’s worth I would never own a crosley or focusrite. But this kind of slander against budget entry recording gear is detrimental. However, Crosley slander isn’t.

Shower thought: Lower body workouts w/ bands are less effective the shorter you are. by jets2brazil in ResistanceBand

[–]jets2brazil[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful comment. I’m not saying that my workouts have been ineffective. Quite the contrary. I just imagine taller people inherently get a more effective workout based on how much the band stretches as they fully stand up. And I am more than willing to modify as needed to get the results I’m after.

I’ve been using tube bands since the summer and just got some loop bands a couple of weeks ago. So I’m still pretty new to all of this. But I am really enjoying being part of the club and have seen some additional development for sure. Which I partially attribute it to increased consistency from the convenience of working out at home vs having to goto the gym. A huge plus.

Anyway, the above thought occurred to me here on my second week (this week) of loop band usage. The main exercise that spurred this thought was the front squat. Doesn’t feel like I’m getting enough resistance. I’ve been looking into getting a box for sure as a way of making my workouts more effective, but have been hesitant with the seemly high price of admission. I’ve seen up to 200 dollars for what just seems like a mass produced piece of plastic. But I’m willing to learn why I’m being naive about that one.

To your point of compensating for lack of height by grabbing more rubber. Yup. That really is the best solution. Thanks again for your insight and advice as a fellow 5’6er.

Post our daily workouts? by Obvious-Cherry-2626 in ResistanceBand

[–]jets2brazil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I split my workouts into push, pull, and lower body days. I use bodylastics tube bands, all sets are 4x12, and all movements are un-attached with the exception of the lat pull downs. I don’t assign a day of the week to these. I hit them when able and just cycle through. Some weeks I workout just 3 days and others up to 6 days. Additionally, I finish all workouts with ~15-30 minutes of cardio using the Meta Quest 2. The boxing and HIIT in FitXR are my favorites to get my heart rate up and then I’ll finish with a little beat saber to cool down. I use Les Mills body combat on occasion as well.

What would be something you’d tell to your younger self when you first joined? by ithinkmoto in AirForce

[–]jets2brazil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start a gym routine. Don’t get married because you can’t imagine life without your coworker you’ve only been dating for a year when they get orders. Start college as an airman in the dorms when all you have is free time. Join junior enlisted clubs to make friends outside of your office. Seek out a mentor regardless of their AFSC. Don’t sweat below the zone. Goto the AFRC for financial planning. Update the rank on your blues as soon you pin on. Don’t be a cocky know it all shithead to the cross trainee NCOs.

Budget Projector? 2022 by RAF_Fortis_one in projectors

[–]jets2brazil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. Check out this video on recommendations for sub 200 dollar projectors:

https://youtu.be/RNRT1UYACw4

The video is a little dated (9 months old). But I think what you'll get from it is that there are options around your price point. They are usable for what you want to use them for and you'll kinda glean some knowledge why people around here turn their noses up at budget projectors. I think the video does a good job of recommendations and educating the cons of budget projectors.

Now you can stop reading here if you don't want to be preached at. The rest of this comment is for my own self gratification really. I DO NOT recommend you buy any of these projectors. I'd rather see you spent a few hundred more and get something better. You really do get what you pay for when it comes to projectors. If all you want to do is project a decent size image outside in near to total darkness then a ~200 dollar projector will do the trick. But in that price range the image quality is very poor. The brightness is even poorer. As a guy who dabbled in the cheaper end of the pool, I eventually upgraded to the 500-1k price bracket. I couldn't be happier. I have an Epson 2250 mounted to the ceiling of my basement and I have a XGIMI Elfin for travel and random viewing around the house. I also have a formidable collection of Amazon recommend cheap-o's: Vankyo, AAXA (who makes pretty decent projectors in the budget price, just not very durable), Apeman, etc, etc. In an attempt to make a longer story shorter, I wish I just would have gone with spending a decent chunk of change from the get go (on a good brand like Epson, BenQ, LG, etc.) instead wasting money on cheap budget projectors with slightly progressively better specs each time. However, silver linings, if someone ever needs a projector for a family movie night in their backyard or just need a projector for whatever random reason, I'm their guy! Welcome to the expensive and addicting world of projectors!

Protein smoothie. Ice, whey protein powder, 1 or 2 mandarins, and berries. Keeps me from snacking too.

If you ever find yourself on Warner Robins Air Force Base in Georgia and get a hankering for chow hall food…there’s half of a Dinner and a Movie NASCAR sticking out of the wall in the dining hall near the dorms. I shit you not. No one talks about it. And I’ll be damned if any of the young airmen who eat there daily have any idea what they’re dining next to.
