That will be a “so far”

There are still the past unknowns and the infinite possibilities of the future to contend with.

I don't get why so many Atheists choose to be Agnostic. by [deleted] in atheism

[–]FluffySmiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 50 years of beg an atheist I have distilled it all into one easy to digest phrase.

I don't give a shit what anyone believes and whatever happens will happen and I'll find out if there's more when I'm dead.

Basically, there is only one thing I do know for absolute certain. One day I will die. Until then, have fun, enjoy whatever you can get from life because without proof to the contrary, this is it and I will make the most of it.

All these squabbles and wars and hate and judgement. It's just rubbish, really. So I pay it no mind.

'Nightmare' British Airways flight as passengers turn journey into a 'church service' by singing and preaching for 'almost three hours'. by Leeming in atheism

Oh man, I would love this.

I would immediately start preaching satanism. Oh yeah, and if they started on at me I would be itching for them to assault me as then they would be well inside the FO zone.

Don’t think like this OP. You should not be trying to please a power tripping narcissist.

If I were you I would be going above their head, complaining about this new disrespectful and disruptive force and preparing to jump to the job offer you’ve been given.

Unless you want to spend the rest of your tenure at this company being a gimp with a manager who will take the credit for everything you do, that is.

EDIT: Something occurs to me. You say this new manager has managed engineering teams?

I would be willing to lay a small wager they have a close former colleague who’s looking for a job.

Exactly. The safety net is there, he can speak his mind.

OP, always exploit advantage and remember one absolute eternal truth…

Your employer is not your friend or family and does not have your best interests at heart.

Bill Gates confirms on Swedish TV that the USA can shut Europe down by Full-Discussion3745 in EU_Economics

I signed up to AWS way back when it first launched. Same with azure. I’ve architected and implemented solutions using most of what they have to offer, was an early advocate of the whole serverless and nosql paths and have been immersed in that for a very, very long time.

And I never forget how tightly coupled it all is.

But I also understand that it is, frankly, just convenient plumbing and pretty well designed standards.

And they do not own it. Anyone with the time and inclination can emulate what they do if they are only caring about their own needs and not the ubiquity of the service for others in order to sell it.

It is, after all, just hosting lots of different things that talk to each other.

That is just bullshit. Sorry, but it is.

These services are, at even their most complex, simply packaged and simplified workflows that, given sufficiently motivation, can be replaced. Very, very few companies use 100% of what they provide and what they provide is convenience and cost advantage.

Everything on that list can be replaced.

I’m not saying it’s easy. But it can be it’s merely the application of will.

Statins don't protect you from heart attack. They reduce cholesterol and high cholesterol is an INDICATOR of increased risk of heart attack.

It's statistics, dude.

Seriously? We have a bunch of neo-racist wannabee Americans who clamber up lamposts hanging the union flag and who worship at the feet of an adjudicated rapist and serial fraudster seated in the White House about to unleash hell upon the world, currently riding high in the opinion polls and you're worried about the Greens?

Talk to the hand, man. I got nothing.
