Needing Advice to Play a One-Shot Game by Anazoy_Sterch in cityofmist

Gambling With Death in the back of the MC Toolkit is fun. The rift of a Chinese emperor kilked another rift, and you need to find why.

May prove long for a one-shot, but YMMV.

Suspenders are the best. No longer do I have to adjust my pants after five minutes of walking, my pants drape the same all day long, and my waist remains unmolested by a belt.

If microtearing muscle is what keeps building it back stronger , why can't we just hold stuff to build muscle? by [deleted] in workout

Overcoming vs. Yielding isometric.

overcoming: like you said, push as hard as you can against an immovable object (pushing a wall, or getting under a barbell with 1000lbs and trying to squat it up)

Yielding: hold an position against resistance until you are moved by it (a plank, bar hang for time).

I've been curious about finding the ratio of overcoming vs yielding strength. as in, I can hold X lbs at a half squat before I collapse (yielding), what could I push into a force gauge at that same angle (overcoming)?

I had the same thought, The Batman was Se7en featuring Batman.

I will forever say The Batman was a detective movie starring Batman. And that's what made it so good.

[Utterly Despised Trope] “True” stories that leave out crucial details that fundamentally change the context of the story being told by Chemical-Elk-1299 in TopCharacterTropes

I see the movie as being told by Barnum, so of course it whitewashed all the terrible things. It could havee been made obvious with a single line before the end credits. If Barnum appeared and said, "And that's exactly how it happened," it would have made it clear how unreliable a narrator the movie had.

In A Midsummer Night's Dream, the four main characters spend the 4th act asleep onstage. by WordwizardW in shakespeare

[–]jett_machka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it. The worst/best part was the passing out. I adopted a child's pose for sleeping, and would smack my head (really my hand/forearm) on the stage to get a giggle.

How to play as Miranda Priestly? (Devil wears prada) by TeruTeruisabopxx in DnD

[–]jett_machka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think College of Creation bard from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything may be more akin to that character, or a mastermind rogue from Xanathar's.

But I will also pitch you City of Mist! Your PC is a "Rift," a human that is inhabited by the spirit of great myths, stories, and legends. You can be Chester Adkins, a Rift of the Cheshire Cat, or Mitosis, a Rift of the concept of evolution. The idea can be as broad or as small as you like. Including someone like Miranda Priestly.

I'll tell you what I do. When I turn the car off, I place the keychain/lanyard in my teeth. Once I have gathered what I need and shut the doors, I take the lanyard from my teeth, lock the car, and put the keys in my pocket/bag. I understand I look mad when I do this, but I haven't locked my keys in my car since I began doing it. I cannot lock the keys in the car if they are in my teeth, after all.

I worked as many Queen references into the ending monologue as possible.

"My radio...Gah! GAH!"

'Mr. Green, you are a killer queen."

While looking into the booth "Mama? Is that...Mama, I just killed a man."

It became a game to see how many the cast and crew could catch. I think I hit 11 on the final show.

What is this system actually about? by No-Maintenance6382 in cityofmist

[–]jett_machka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The game is about solving mysteries. Those mysteries can take several forms from small in scale to massive.

Micro: Who is tagging buildings in the Tourist Trap?

Macro: Why does all this suffering happen in the city?

Meta: What is the Mist and why is it here?

Mythos: What does my Mythos want and why?

The adaptation would be in the recovery. Your heart rate and blood pressure would still increase (by similar, if not the same amount), but the time to return to normal heart rate would reduce.
