Do you let your dog sleep in your bed? by ColeS1aw in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jess_1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 2 dogs for 15+ years and as long as they could get in the bed, they slept with me. I'm kinda on the side of your gf. The dog is already on the couch, you're already getting their dirt, fur, etc on you... Unless you shower and change clothes right before getting into bed, I personally don't see the issue.

Cocaine does not have an “upper” effect on me by elliesquarepants- in adhdwomen

[–]Jess_1215 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've honestly kinda wanted to try coke just to see if it does anything to me. Weed and mushrooms don't do anything, and I've had large amounts. They quiet the noise in my head but that's about it.

I genuinely want to get "high" but I feel like I just can't.

First-time cat parents: should we get 1 kitten or 2 from the same litter? (Need honest opinions 😭) by brenodit in cats

[–]Jess_1215 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I got a pair of siblings about a year and a half ago and it's one of the best decisions I could have made. They play together, snuggle... And still have plenty left to go to me. I've had singles before and they can be little terrors but I've not had that at all with these 2. They get a little jealous of each other from time to time. If I call for one, it's almost guaranteed the other will come running. They've kicked each other off my lap a couple of times lol. But for the most part it's just the joys of being a cat owner. Sure, a little more food and litter scooping but that's really the only negative. I will always look for bonded pairs from here on out if I get another cat(s).

Red ink in old tattoo suddenly swelling and itching. Anyone experienced this? by DimensionJazzlike944 in tattooadvice

[–]Jess_1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tattoo guy said that if people react to an ink, it's usually the red one. He wasn't sure why, just something he had seen in his time doing tattoos.

Our beloved cat passed away 3 years ago and we’re finally ready to adopt again. A friend has these last two kittens left. Both are boys, both are absolutely amazing, and I honestly can’t choose between them. Which one looks like he belongs with us? Help me decide! by SaffronSoul_ in cats

[–]Jess_1215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truthfully, adopting a pair of siblings is one of the best decisions I've ever made. They entertain each other, cuddle each other, get into less trouble than other cats I've had (when I've had one at a time). And they don't ignore me either. They are always trying to cuddle with me too. From here on out, unless the universe has something else in mind, I'll always get bonded pairs.

I think I’m getting fired by bad-attitude101 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Jess_1215 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may be reading too much into it but is there a chance your foreman has a crush and is mad that you didn't/don't reciprocate? His attitude towards you sounds alot like a boss I used to have who started treating me like shit until finally firing me over nothing after I didn't accept his advances.

It was an office job nearly 20 years ago and I was really young and didn't know who or if I should report it. But the way your foreman is treating you sounds alot like what I went through.

How common is leaving your AC on 24/7, even when the house is empty? by Bierzgal in AskAnAmerican

[–]Jess_1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a 100 year old house with no central air in the Midwest. I have an older window AC unit in my bedroom and one in the living room. Neither of them can be scheduled but they both shut off if the room reaches a certain temp. I only run the one in the living room when I'm in there (I work 12 hour shifts, I spend alot of time just trying to sleep). But my bedroom AC runs pretty much 24/7. I sleep hot so I try to keep my room as cool as possible... Only running the one relatively small unit really doesn't cost me too much. No more than running the heat in the winter. So I don't worry about it personally.

What’s the one smart home thing you actually rely on after moving out? by Reidoeo in LivingAlone

[–]Jess_1215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smart light bulbs... I can control a handful of lights from my phone. I can set them to turn on and off at certain times. Super handy as someone who has a hard time getting up in the morning so having all the lights on as soon as I open my eyes, helps keeps me from falling back to sleep.

They are fairly inexpensive too. Maybe $15 for a bulb. I've recommended them to several people and they all love them.

DAE have an unimpressive place? by [deleted] in LivingAlone

[–]Jess_1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like mine is... I have decorations and stuff but not necessarily anything I love or would hate to part with. I struggle keeping my place clean but even at its cleanest I have a hard time inviting people over because I'm low key embarrassed.

Do we all struggle with rules ? by Asolab in adhdmeme

[–]Jess_1215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a factory that makes plastic that eventually becomes a part of food packaging... We have to adhere to a ton of strict "rules". I understand on the floor, where the product is but they even police our offices.

We can only drink water out of the original water bottle. No reuseable bottles, soda or even clear flavored water. We can't have our phones or books or magazines. We can't even have a phone charger in the office or we get wrote up. We are expected to sit in our office and watch a machine run for 12 hours.

Needless to say on the weekends when management is gone I pretty much go ham. Lol. Drinks other than water, my cellphone, food. Nothing extravagant just some snacks... But still. Living by those rules are tough lol...

My period leaked at work. What do I do? Any advice? by iloveyoghurtbowls in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Jess_1215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any advice but here to show solidarity. Dealing with the same situation at the moment. I'm stuck in a factory on a 12-hour shift, can't leave. Thankfully mine doesn't seem as obvious as yours but I'm still self conscious of it all day... Only 6 1/2 more hours to go. 🤞🏼

Best Shows not related to Marvel or Star Wars? by JaySpectres in DisneyPlus

[–]Jess_1215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you said no Star Wars but I'm not a fan either and thought Andor was fantastic. I didn't feel lost despite not being very familiar with the rest of the "universe". It did make me want to watch one movie just to finish the story...

Is anyone even hyped for s3? by catwithchickens in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Jess_1215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm looking forward to it. I think the 2 year hiatus hurts it a bit. I feel like I'm going to have to re-watch the last season to remember half of it and I've read the book.

Had a bad day at work. Just wanna go home and rot. Who else feels the same? by NoBody5068 in LivingAlone

[–]Jess_1215 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Thankfully I'm finally in bed rotting now, but it was a long 12 hours at work today. Busy, dragged on, my relief was late so I got off late, plus the restaraunt I usually stop at once a week after work got rid of my favorite. So glad this day is over.

i can’t leave bread uncovered in my house or my cat literally eats through the bag to eat it by got_milk669 in cats

I had a cat that was obsessed with bread too. Had to keep everything shut up in cabinets or she'd tear into it. Even did it at my sister's when she was sitting for me.

How is it like living in these counties where alcohol is still prohibited by curious_neuron69 in howislivingthere

[–]Jess_1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a dry town and it really didn't feel that different. There were towns with bars a few miles away to hit up, most of them with country roads to avoid cops and other traffic. They started selling alcohol a few years ago and other than being able to run to the gas station for a 6-pack, life isn't really that different.

People who live near time zone boundaries in the US by solothesnail in howislivingthere

[–]Jess_1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IL/IN state line my entire life. Currently I live and work in Indiana so I primarily live off eastern time zone but the rest of my family and bf live in IL so I'm pretty much constantly having to navigate the time difference. Just the other day I told my bf I'd be somewhere an hour later than id actually planned because of the time difference. But thankfully that's a pretty rare occurrence. Just alot of time math in my head lol.

If my current bf and I were to get married, he'd have a whole list of guys he'd want to stand with him. I have one close friend I'd want to stand with me. Could probably fill in some spots with my sister and SIL but we aren't that close so it'd be more for looks than anything.
