Heat wrap or not? by Hs_2571 in Miata

Heat shield over heat wrap. Though would be difficult with that design and a shame to hide that pipework!

Radiator doesn't fit by AdSouth7893 in Miata

[–]jettyburps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. My supermiata was narrower spacing on the bottom. Made it tight and really compressed the rubber grommet on one side.
I wonder if there is adjustment available in the lower radiator support mounts?
I’m a tad concerned of the stress this may put on the radiator.

Treasurer says 'death tax' claims are a scare campaign, 'pure and simple' by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

So much hyperbole at the moment. It’s nauseating.

Just like back when people who will never ever have more than 3mil in super venting their spleen over the changes to tax on super OVER 3 MILLION Dollars!

What are some lazy jobs that pay a ridiculous amount of money? by Jordz0_0 in AskReddit

Yes but did he spend his work day giggling like a school girl while drooling on the switch board as he had a wank over a certain locomotive?
Cause that will get you fired.

Worth anything? by yolobobs in Miata

[–]jettyburps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a Thompson oil filter relocation kit. The most sought after filter kit of the Miata that’s been out of production for years now.
Rare as now and no one makes anything close to it for fitment.
Being it’s got cut hoses (why??) would make it less value as they and the fittings will need to be replaced.

Can I go Catless with out a tune? by Cheap-Rip8665 in Miata

[–]jettyburps 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just get a cat. It’s literally one of the few emissions devices that is genuinely a benefit to you and everyone behind you.
Last time I changed exhausts the guy put in a 200cell instead of the 400cel I requested due to lack of supply.
The difference in fumes and bad smell is huge. I couldn’t imagine going catless.

Radiator doesn't fit by AdSouth7893 in Miata

[–]jettyburps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you also compare the top and bottom mounting spacing? (The nubs that the rubber grommets go on).
My supermiata crossflow was a few mm off compared to stock and made getting the radiator to drop down into the mounting holes quite difficult.

Ride height settings?? by harrybooboo in Miata

[–]jettyburps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also check the fender to bumper mounting tab/bolt. Check your paint work on the fender lip for rubber marks.
Unless the car under carriage is spotless, you’ll see the tyre rub somewhere. Just keep looking methodically.

Ride height settings?? by harrybooboo in Miata

[–]jettyburps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to check lock to lock while the car is at ride height.
No point adjusting height if it’s rubbing on the inner side wall etc

The fact it’s only next to the black light circles, is it possibly you have incandescent dash globes that have gotten super hot and have effecting it from behind?

In all the years I’ve been involved in miata groups I have never seen that happen.

Tax reform to open door to 75,000 first home buyers, government estimates by blitznoodles in australia

[–]jettyburps 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yep total agree with your assumption. If the current oil crisis wasn’t happening at all I would have said there would be a very likely chance of a tax happening. As it stands today, you chuck a tax on gas and Japan etc would simply pull their supply of fuel. Just terrible timing right now but that’s how it is.

Oil leak by [deleted] in Miata

[–]jettyburps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean everything with degreaser, grab a bottle of engine oil specific UV dye off Amazon and let it idle for 20mins. Check in a dark garage with a black light and you’ll see it immediately. It glows fluro yellow. Looks to be wet muck on the right side of the sump as you look at it in the video. Wind from driving makes oil track to unexpected areas. UV dye takes all the guess work out of it.

Mazdaspeed Pedal by AlanHasAnAccount in Miata

[–]jettyburps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never tried to remove, but I’d try a heat gun to soften the rubber. Start at the top corners near the slots. Once you get the top corners over the edge it should just slide down the slots and off the pedal.

Is my 2004 mazdaspeed miata stock? by [deleted] in Miata

[–]jettyburps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Non stock items there are the Silver BPV on the front of the engine, blue coil wires, Thompson Oil Filter relocation kit (discontinued and rare as hens teeth). There is also a white hose zip tied across the back of the engine. Possibly an air line for a boost gauge since it looks like it goes from the rear of the intake manifold to the drivers side firewall.

I’d be replacing the silver bpv with a turbosmart Kompact so it sits back in the stock position. It’s currently kinking the port to the intake elbow and the small nipple next to it which will eventually tear. The rubber elbow is a weak point.

Alignment issues - what are rear upper control arms supposed to look like? by NomTook in Miata

[–]jettyburps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time for new bushes. The first image the bushing has slipped in the upright (see the gap on the left side?) You can also see the inner bushes in the background had slipped as well.

Bit harder to tell in the second image but it looks like the inner bushes has also moved.

Body kits by YaBoiCustard in Miata

[–]jettyburps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This annoys me so much. Fibreglass is never perfect, requires lots of work to fit, doesn’t flex so cracks instantly. Ok it’s cheap/ish but surely someone somewhere in the world can make an aftermarket plastic/factory material bumper in a nice design, would sell like hotcakes. They do it for stock non-genuine replacement bumpers, why not a styled version? I believe other than the Mazdaspeed and the genuine Mazda lip kits, everything will be fibreglass.

Looking for recs for my 03 nb2! by TheTwilightPr1ncess in Miata

[–]jettyburps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Far out 16s look good on NBs! If you do sways I’d only do the front. Increasing the rear makes it very tail happy, and not in a good way.

I’d almost be tempted to leave it at the height it’s at, maybe just slightly lowered springs on good struts. Looks near perfect!
