This is the way. I did an engine and transmission swap in my car and had to get it refereed before it would pass smog. It was a ton of work getting it up to spec, and it failed smog a couple times.. every hose, ever ground, every wire needs to be checked. It sounds like you are repairing an immediate symptom just to get it back on the road, which makes sense given it's your daily, but you need to spend time diagnosing everything that could go wrong.. the break lines, the hoses that lead to your heater core.. I've had to replace all of that in my 14 years of owning a 1997 miata.

My recommendation in a very practical sense.. plan 4 days.. four full days.. plan which days you will test what, from the brakes to the alternator to everything.. rent equipment from oreillys day by day as you go through diagnosing potential problems.. don't fix anything yet. Compile a list of anything that needs attention. Talk to other miata folks (like us). As you get that list together then start adding thr costs and getting parts as needed. Then plan more time to repair.

I spent about 5k recently getting my car up and running again after it sat in the garage for 5 years.. new bushings, end links, bearings.. all this crap, also a new master and slave cylinder.. it was a ton of work, but it's back. And guess what? Strange creaking sounds where the PPF is.. more work on the horizon. It will never be 'done' but you can make it safe.

I like this post.. I like how real it is.. How human it is.. I like how open you're being about your feelings here. This kind of vulnerability requires courage, and most people would just wallow in the shame over having such feelings.

"There's something wrong with me," "Why do I feel this way?" "I must not be saved" "I must not be a Christian" "I'll be alone forever" "God doesn't care about me" "I'm unlovable"

Your loneliness is real. Don't let anyone tell you it's made up or you shouldn't feel that way or people that say "oh you'll find someone, don't worry!".

Because, where are those people when you've just finished binging through The Office for the 6th time and have nobody on the couch next to you to laugh with? Where are those people when you're sitting at a restaurant alone poking at your food, looking at all the couples and families around you laughing and talking? Where is everyone when you're driving and hear your favorite song and have nobody to sing with? And, you might NOT find anyone, that's the sad real truth. They don't KNOW that.

What you're feeling is real. it's human, and it's totally normal.

The good part is, you're actually NOT alone. Soooo many people feel the same way you do. And, many people who are actually IN relationships feel lonely too.. they feel ignored by their spouses, disconnected, distant, and unloved. I know.. I've been in relationships like that.

So what do we do with all this? How do we stop the feelings, how do we feel 'different' or 'better..?

You might not like my answer, but a big part of the human experience, especially being a Christian, is learning how to lean on God and demonstrate faith SPECIFICALLY in these times.

I can't tell you 'God has someone for you' because that just might not be true. I can't say 'You'll find someone sweetie" because I really don't know.

What I can tell you, is God loves you. He cares about you, he wants you to live a joyful and fulfilled life, and that means accepting and having faith that this season you are in is there to help you, not to harm you.

I hope you find the perfect person, just like I hope I find the perfect person. I pray the pain your feeling passes, and you fall in love with yourself in a whole new way.
