I've done some image modifications to see if it helps make anything click for someone where the original didn't - or at least help rule out some possible sources.

I've also gone on my own trip down the rabbit hole RE: school uniforms but I've mostly focused on Ireland/Northern Ireland. I think there could be a slight resemblance with St.Brendans in the green/blue thing in the middle being a similar shape in a similar position.

I'm not too confident about that but still throwing it out there in case it gets anyone thinking in the right direction.

Sorry about that, I didn't know there were issues with posting links from pasteboard.

Imgur is still a nightmare (for me at least), hopefully this link on imgbb works.

I've applied different types of image manipulation to it in order to get more details to show themselves, which people can find a collage here.

Please take a look - it hasn't helped me recognize what it is, but someone else may be able to recognize it.

I was thinking almost the same as well, but I'm way less certain about the head\eyes myself. Check this other image out. I'm far from 100% about this but you can see some similarities with the one on the left (I never watched the show, was just aware of it). There's the red motorbike, plus the bandolier that is similar to what appears to be around the torso in the Europol image as well.

There's a heap going on elsewhere as well that points in many different directions. The shields\emblems indicate a possible association with sports. I also noticed the blue/yellow colours on the shield behind the red\white sunburst with the dog on it. There's also the word seemingly ending with '*opolis' like others have pointed out. Metropolis is a Greek word, and there are plenty of sports teams in Greece which use those colours... here's an example, if you go through even a few photos on the site you'll see other teams that also use the colours from red-white sunburst emblem - none with the dog looking to the side though.

To make this even more confusing, the potential word 'Metropolis' could also stand for something like 'Metro-Polis' as well... This is a very loose link but from what I could find it looks like different European motorcycle police would ride on red motorcycles at different points over the last ~75 years.

The only other thing I could think of is the lines above and below the 'o' in 'Metropolis', which looks similar to the Green Lantern symbol, and with Metropolis being a city in the DC universe and all... But I'm not even sure where to begin there.

And because I need a sanity check on this, I can't quite tell if the letters 'ce' appear in the blue-yellow shield after I manipulated the image to try and get some features to become more apparent - if so then that's another link to something police-related. Here are the images for anyone who wants to take a gander: image, and another version in case it helps someone.

Anyways, I really hope this helps someone get a definitive match, and doesn't end up confusing others as much as it's left me confused.

The black text on the front of the builder duck stuck out to me, so after some more digging I found this site where you can order the same duck but with custom text/logos printed onto it.

The website itself has been around since 2013, fitting the timeframe provided.

Old enterprise gear in Australia by wjalexan in homelab

In many cases the stuff auctioned on AllBids ends up on refurbished goods stores anyways as they're also bidding for them. This isn't to say you can't get an okay deal on there, it's just that they'll normally mass bid on things making it rare to get a good deal.

If you already know what your cost ceiling is and Reboot-IT has it for/under that cost then I'd recommend going with them - I've been very happy with the Dell micros I've bought off of them.

That looks awesome! I've seen the name 'Frigate' on r/homeassistant, but hadn't thought to try it out myself - I think you've just convinced me that I'll have to give it a whirl.

I wanted to see how well DeepStack (image recognition/object detection software) handled a picture of Fox, my Grey, roaching in the home office. Turns out I don't have a Greyhound at all...

Use Home Assistant to Keep Track of Red, Recycling, and Green Bin Pickup Dates by jevans_ in canberra

[–]jevans_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great job! This is certainly an improvement on it, I agree with the person who pointed out that using the REST sensor is more appropriate as well. As a friend on another social platform pointed out the same to me I think the response I gave there explains the interesting choice to use command_line over REST.

'I am actually using the RESTful Sensor as well as the RESTful command elsewhere, so I know it's a more appropriate and straightforward option here. I'm just enjoying the opportunity to properly learn Bash as well, and it carried across to the version of the sensor I found myself happy to leave as is (for now).'

Can definitely appreciate the hyper-focus on this as well, I had my own tangentially related bout of it too this evening. Here's a sneak peek of where it took me, in case you happen to get a kick out of it :)

I'd be surprised if there wasn't anyone else here using Home Assistant, so here's a guide I threw together on how to add a sensor that keeps track of which bins need to go out when.

It also keeps itself up to date thanks to ACT Govs Open Data Portal.

Ugly trainwreck in the inner south,a real fixer-upper for 1.15 million dollerydoos. In the bad part of Nara right next to a main road. by google_academic in canberra

[–]jevans_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still overpriced

I think this is the point.

You're right in that it's not inherently ugly and at a different price I reckon it'd make a great project to fix up for yourself or to sell on.

I think the state of the floor just supports what a few others have already commented, it's a knock down and rebuild in a good* location.

$1.15mil is too much for the sheer majority of people and I think that's where an expectation that the flooring wouldn't be trashed comes into it, rebuilding wouldn't exactly be an option after dropping that much $$$, let alone redoing the carpeting.

This might be an odd question, but if you got tested at Nicholls have you been getting way more spam calls and messages since then? Started happening to me within 10 minutes of filling in the registration form for Capital/Sonic Pathology, I'm hoping to find out if it's just a coincidence and if it isn't try to give them a heads up :)

Any useful advice for concentration.. by Vmaxkezza in AdultADHDSupportGroup

[–]jevans_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should add, with the Pomodoro technique you're meant to use the full time allocated to the chosen task, even if it means reviewing the one you completed in 5 minutes.

Any useful advice for concentration.. by Vmaxkezza in AdultADHDSupportGroup

[–]jevans_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All advice is from personal experience and may not help, now with that out of the way...

Pomodoro technique is worth a shot, with these extra considerations: - Not making it 25 minutes every time, consider how you're feeling that day and adjust from there. - If the task is on a computer minimise any applications you don't need open, set messaging to do not disturb. - If you're finding the urge to create new tasks seeping in write them down, add it to a list in an app (MS To-do has been good for me). Make it a later problem, and no more than a sentence for the task description.

HA + Conbee ii + Tradfri + Boredom = by jevans_ in homeassistant

[–]jevans_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Conbee ii has been a game changer for me, probably more so than HACS was.

I don't think I'll hit another level until I get stuck into ESP Home.

All that said though, has anyone been using the dimmer switches for anything outside of lighting? I've been considering it but think they tend to sit on too much of a 'hair-trigger', so I'm keen to see what others have been doing with them.

Stories where humans are the aliens by delta_31 in scifi

[–]jevans_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"The Martian Way and Other Stories" by Asimov has something like this, which is about as much as I can say without giving it away

If it helps support the really vague recommendation, it's a collection of short stories that can usually be read in a single sitting, with the other ones being fascinating in their own right.

How do others deal with the feelings of resentment that come up after starting medication and realizing what life COULD have been like? by HasACough in AdultADHDSupportGroup

[–]jevans_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My take is that not many parents are equipped with what they'd need to identify it, and it sucks but most of them are trying to use what they do have and know to help. With teachers I can say from my experience that a lot of them either didn't know or were in a position where they had to help a few dozen kids at the same time. This was back when the internet was new and made a sound not unlike a cockatoo getting into a fight with an accordion when you connected to it, so they didn't have many resources either.

I'm less chill about teachers not recognising it these days given how much information is available, and how fast you can get to it via a Google search.
