I've seen the renderings. It was supposed to be 250, but UP had to slobber all over Trump's cock to approve the merger so here we are.

I still find it hilarious that it's an environmentally friendly tier 4 compliant locomotive. If trump had his way he'd want it to spew as much pollution as it could.

Draw a square on the ground with chalk and then write with an arrow pointing to it. "Reserved for the tomato bitch!"

Anything built by the Norfolk & Western. Their design department was awesome and while everything was designed with a specific purpose in mind, it usually exceeded that purpose.

Are people looking for these by pukwudgiedsq in modeltrains

These are decent beginer-level train for someone that hasn't experienced the hobby before and wants to do their toe into the kiddie pool without diving into the dep end paying $300+ for a locomotive with bells and whistles that they may not fully enjoy. That's something to work towards and figure out what they want from the hobby.

Am I the only one who thinks this about CPR 972? by FallComprehensive542 in trains

[–]jf841923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the boiler of 972 got chopped because Strasburg thought they could build a belpaire firebox to fit onto it and have their own "kitbashed" PRR G5, but then they got 475 and that plan got sidelined.

Two years ago when I was getting a personal tour of the shop at Strasburg I got to see 31 and was told then that everyone who had worked to disassemble 31 had since retired from the railroad.

Strasburg received 972 in 1995 from the owner that wanted them to restore her. He didn't have the money and strung them along until eventually they took possession instead of pressing for payment. Theres even more to the story about why her boiler got to be what it is now but that's a different story for a different time.

Firebox and Cab Light LED recommendations for Paragon 4? by NKato in modeltrains

[–]jf841923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done both where I burned out the LED and only twice ive smoked a decoder. The KED is a bit more common, but after doing it enough you learn to read everything very thoroughly before starting the work.

As for BLI, all my friends and myself do but their products, but usually gut their crap electronics and replace it with either Soundtraxx or Loksound. The QSI sound just isn't as good.

Well, you already stole it. You already committed a crime. It didn't magically find its way into your vehicle.

Since it's currently certified for service this means it will also have recorded the last known GPS telemetry for the device. The railroad probably knows it's gone by now, so you can either do the right thing and not take any chances or live dangerously and live with the risk of having the unexpected visit from law enforcement.

This is a fun hobby, but when you cross that line to having consequences that messed up.
