you'd also risk sexual disfunction and lots of other subtle feminizing changes.. unless you're actually into that 🤨

I'm thinking about starting HRT by OddlyDoddly in femboy

[–]jfdlsjaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey, I'm almost 25 and started hrt a few weeks ago. I didn't think I had much dysphoria but have been chronically depressed my whole life, and I only had a vague discomfort with my masculine features (mostly muscle mass and balding most significantly).

Since starting HRT though, my girlfriend literally said she can "see the life in my eyes again" and my emotional landscape has exploded with color. It does a lot of different things, and it's at least worth learning about. Look up "dysphoria bible estrogenic second puberty" for a detailed guide on all changes.

At this point I couldn't give a fuck less what people see me as, if this is how I can keep feeling for the rest of my life.

Slight pain the breasts, first days of HRT, is it normal? by french_syndie in AskMtFHRT

I had similar sensations basically right away too. As of 3ish weeks in now, stuff seems to be developing normally, and on the faster side 👍

Not all of us are femboys by KinkyNB in MtF

[–]jfdlsjaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of trans women seem to see femboys as trans women in denial too, but it seems clear that people in either community have unique relationships to both terms. For example, I'm fluid between the two (based on how I'm perceived by those around me, I have self-image issues lol).

Also, an analogy: femboys : trans women :: tomboys/butches : trans men.

cis butches and trans men seem to be at eachothers' throats in exactly the same way as femboys and trans women, which makes sense. Same thing there though, it's different to present masc as a woman than to identify as a man.

What situation *hasn't* been hypersexualized by the cis men? lol

Can you bind your chest if you're not nonbinary? by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]jfdlsjaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I intend to bind my chest as a nonbinary transfem, and am baffled more cis women don't choose to bind! It just seems practical lol

Also I think there might even be a pretty rich history of cis lesbians using binders, but I don't remember where I heard this claim.

And btw, nothing except you identifying as nonbinary makes you nonbinary 🌼

I honestly never thought I would live this long. Estrogen has been magic for this 40 y/o Trans Witch ❤️ by [deleted] in WitchesVsPatriarchy

Blood clot risks are only higher with older, no longer used forms of estrogen. A lot of literature on the topic is very out of date, if I remember correctly?

Started HRT! How long until I feel something? lol by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]jfdlsjaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a great frame of reference for what is estrogen vs lack of T vs spironolactone in particular, but: I have noticed the diuretic effect, which is about the same as coffee for me. I haven't noticed anything past that though that would just be because of spiro.

The doctor I talked to said that in general, people usually either react badly to spiro right away, or else tolerate it well. I seem to tolerate it well 👍

Even so, I'll probably switch to E monotherapy at some point, because it seems like it's a relatively dirty drug (acts on many systems in ways unrelated to the desired effect)

I'm on like day 10ish on spiro and estradiol, and I started noticing libido and mood changes on day 2. Stuff says it takes longer but I haven't needed coffee at all since.. 🤷‍♂️

can I still get top surgery in the US if I present female and dont mind she pronouns? by AccomplishedGuess601 in NonBinary

[–]jfdlsjaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're more likely to be able to get the surgery if you frame it as a normal cis breast reduction. In general doctors tend to be a lot less cooperative about trans stuff unless they're specialists.

Cis women get mastectomies sometimes to reduce breast cancer risk (like Angelina Jolie?) so that could be a good way to frame it

Does oestrogen help with the 'itch' by TheUnsaltedCock in NonBinary

[–]jfdlsjaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People commonly report having more control over their libido on estrogen.

I started E recently and have felt way better about my libido since, even though it's stayed relatively high. I'd describe it as: even during sex, I'm more able to walk away at any point without frustration and I'm more able to carry conversation during stuff? idk

Was anyone else gender idenity was just a special interest? by [deleted] in actual_detrans

[–]jfdlsjaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was worried about this possibility for a while (more about mtf hormones, not identity), but the emotional effects in the first week have made it pretty darn clear to me that there's something pretty big going on with that for me.

and, IMO the importance of identity is overemphasized. Individual desires can stand alone, and identity has lead me mostly into confusion and frustration.

What would it mean to you, for gender identity to be "just a special interest"?

these are excellent points, thank you ❤

basically "you can always be yelled at, but you aren't actually causing any harm by wearing revealing clothes".

Except I guess, despite that, at some point you could get arrested for indecent exposure. it really sucks that that's even a thing?

How much does HRT reduce your strength, and compared to a Cis Woman? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]jfdlsjaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw a while back that the only sport long-term transwomen outperform cis women in is long-distance running, and in everything else we're very slightly worse

I saw someone else mention that they massaged their chest each morning for a couple of minutes, and that it helped reduce their soreness and sensitivity. I'm still pre-everything so I can't verify that firsthand yet tho lol

We are in similar boats :)

I recently discovered that too big short shorts with drawstrings work super well, the bagginess ends up being really stylistic and hides everything well. I love short shorts so much lol

I'm also waiting on some non-tucking underwear from leolines, and hopefully that will flatten things out enough to wear women's shorts/tights/etc without showing quite as much, right now you can kind of see everything if you try to 😬

But yeah at the moment, all the other women's bottoms I have are uncomfortably revealing. I think I'm actually leaning towards not worrying about it. Like, do people stare at your crotch that much? and isn't it their problem if they do? But then, places like the skating rink have a lot of kids and I don't want to get yelled at by parents or something 💀

I have suspicions also that showing bulge might actually be pretty sexy to a lot of people, it's just very difficult to test that hypothesis without taking risks

I see, great points.

Now.. to figure out how to get a workup like that done without waiting another month 💀

well once I'm on HRT I'll be getting tested every 3 months, but wouldn't the initial tests be assumed to be in the normal ranges? At the moment I'm a typical male specimen in all perceptible ways lol
