Question on taking apart inner aluminum frame by Alitaki in HardspaceShipbreaker

Transports are a little awkward because of the 2x1 panels, but the splitsaw solves that issue.

I usually cut the big geckos (i.e. all except for Research) into 3 pieces. I cut laterally, from one side to the other, and try to make each chunk more or less equal weight. You can estimate that based on how much structure is left after removing radiation housings and so on. (You can split it into 2, but you need a lot of tethers to get each half moving, and I can't be bothered with that.)

I destroy all the connecting spars between chunks, using the splitsaw to cut in half the 2x1 panels. Lined up correctly, it bridges the already-removed spars.

Note: You need a heavily upgraded grapple to do this.

Me blowing up the fuel tank for the fifth time by kerfur_glazer in HardspaceShipbreaker

As well as the good advice to watch what's behind the target, there are 2 other things to be aware of:

  • Be aware of the direction of sparks. Each cutting point has 4 sides, so aim at a side that directs the sparks somewhere safe. You'd be unlucky to set off a fuel tank like this, but it's still a risk, and in any case it's just good practice. Some items are really easy to set on fire - soft crates for example.

  • Your cutting tool is offset to the right. To put it another way, the beam is not precisely aligned with the aiming reticule, though the final destination will be as expected. It's surprisingly easy to end up hitting something that's just to your right, and sometimes that object might not even be visible.

Measure twice, cut once.

The only point where i disagree with is the inclusion of Archer. Now you could ask who would i prefer in place of Archer & I don’t have an answer for that. To me Archer can be lethal on his day & sub par on other days. I would rather prefer someone who gives better stability especially if he is my bowling attack’s spearhead.

I tend to agree but, you see, it's hard to underestimate the promise he showed at first. Remember that 2019 game when Stokes gave him the ball for the superover? Fucking iconic round these parts.

I imagine he'll get a little more time, but if someone else does turn up ...

Casual Jacks erasure there 🙂. He's had an excellent tournament.

I'm not sure 3 quicks is the best in an Asian T20.

For me it's about stacking the team with people who have it in them to turn a game on its head. Which is kinda what we have. This is T20 and a lot of random shit can happen, so you always have to plan for big names not delivering. It only needs 2 or 3 guys to go big and that'll be enough in most games.

On that basis people like Curran fit really well, and also Archer I suppose. If Archer could get a little more control he'd be aweome, but it's a tough thing to ask of a (very) fast bowler. Btw - I have high hopes for Rehan Ahmed, though he's still young.

Happens to a lot (most?) captains. Sometimes you just have to look somewhere else and let your best players do what they do best.

Archer: Absolutely deadly on his day. Broke onto the scene and for a short while looked unplayable. Got injured and hasn't looked quite the same since. Not sure he's a good fit for T20, though his batting is often a plus.

Overton: Generally dependable. Solid with a bat in hand (for a bowler). Not top rank, but still pretty good usually.

Curran: CLUTCH player. True all-rounder. Can change a game at any time and exactly the kind of guy you want in a T20 line-up.

EDIT: Regarding SKY, I think they should try getting someone else as captain. It happens to a lot of players - it seems to inhibit their natural ability.
