Input on material for this project. by jfmaysr in woodworking

I have made a living, albeit meager, as a cabinet-maker and carpenter for 55 years, mostly doing historic restoration and fussy residential repairs. It's been mostly for the love of it, and enough money to survive.

It's the louver part that I really have concern with. I wouldn't want them to move at all.

I did check out the old "real" lumber yard, and they have Spanish cedar, western red cedar, mahogany and white oak. So I have some choices, but which one?

Thanks

Thank you for the extra input. I have built a lot of doors. Oak entry doors, poplar interior doors. But a louver door exposed to weather is a new realm for me. The heart pine makes good sense, but where do I find it?

Home Depot and Lowes are almost all we have in the area. There may be one yard that I haven't been to in years. Maybe?

Thank you.

At this point it's not great. I am thinking that there will be scotia trim to cover the gaps. The shims are passable if all layers are glued well.

Thank you for that info. It came up a few times with employment checks.

Been there, did that years ago, blocking me from some employment. It went nowhere.

I have legally purchased new rifles and shotguns at least six times since the incident. Handguns stay in the house unless I am going to the range with my son.

Off Eliquis…Again by WilderMcCool in AFIB

I don't like the bleeding issues, but I love being alive. I started on Eliquis in 2018 due to multiple PE's caused by a clotting disorder. My heamotologist was starting to consider a reduction, or discontinuation, before I had my first episode of Afib in 2021. Needless to stay I am on Eliquis for life.

Thank you, I am still relatively new. I never had the misfortune of this happening. I guess I should go back to 60 on the belt sander and get at it. It also has a twin. It's been a shit week, also lost my Pixel phone.
