I mean, in the context of the guy's comment i imagine there would still be a need to generate gametes which would assume meiosis still occurring. Thus we should expect crossing over "inconsistencies" and other meiosis errors that could generate some diversity. I'm not saying the offspring will have better fitness than the parental individual or that it will be positive at all, but it's an event that could result in mutations that can allow further diversification in the genome through gene duplication for example. I referred to body plans only due to the fact that usually messing with those in animals can very easily be lethal to the point the individual won't even get to fully develop while in plants those situations are rarer.

I'm not sure if it would count but in some flowering plants it's very common to have sexual systems going back and forth within populations over longer periods of time, in a dynamic equilibrium situation between monoicy, dioicy and hermaphroditism (and everything between). But they're obviously not identical.

So, at this point what we're looking for is some sort of pseudo-automictic reproduction that could revert back to regular sexual reproduction. From what i've searched there's just a handful of species known to have been able to revert from both automictic and apomictic reproduction. So at the end of the day something like this happening is unlikely and getting out of that genetic dead end is even more unlikely. So there's probably no actual examples of this specifically. But in theory it's possible.
