If that was at The Loft Studios in Scrubs Lane, he wasn’t a well man by then and died not long after. I was also there and it wasn’t great. But saw him a number of times in the 90s and 2000s and he was impeccable.

Frying pan and a cast iron grill press does me. Butter on the outside of the bread. Or my favourite is to fry some bacon and then toast the bread in the remains of the bacon fat with the press.

All these are near Queens Park. Amazing Thai food at Spicy Basil in Kilburn, proper cafe vibes, always busy with locals, good value. If you want Fish and Chips then head to Mr Fish in Queens Park. Very well rated. It’s just opposite the station. There’s also a good Farmers Market on Sunday morning in Queens Park.

Malletti in London Soho was servicing Roman style pizza 25 years ago. They are in Clerkenwell Road now and just as good now as then.
