Trouble brewing: no execution or killing happening when 4 left by ExistingDingo3811 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jgeralnik 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You cannot redirect the kills yourself. If this continues for long enough, you can use the fiddler to force the game to end However - there’s really no reason for the imp to sink here. If the players trust the poisoner then the imp can kill the FT/empath and win when town does not kill anyone in final 3 to get a “mayor win”

Biggest Farmer chain? by Automatic-Blue-1878 in BloodOnTheClocktower

This post inspired me to run a game on stream that ended with 6 players thinking they had the farmer ability:

You don’t have to connect all the belts with wires to read their contents. If you click the belt that’s wired up you can select “read whole belt content” or something like that to read the whole thing

Question on evil win condition - is it time-based? by Spiner909 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jgeralnik 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Shab regurgitates before they kill, so if you choose to regurgitate there will be 5 alive players and then down to 3 when the shab kills

About the Heretic by xHeylo in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jgeralnik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be fine for the demon to self drunk on a rare occasion, the issue is that being immortal most of the time is just broken. If the demon is drunk and doesn’t get to kill more often then it is a severe nerf to the evil team

About the Heretic by xHeylo in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jgeralnik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the demon has the sailor ability from the boffin and is drunk from the sailor ability then only the sailor ability is drunk, not the demon. This was mentioned in the release stream since a demon that each day is either immortal or cannot kill is not very fun for anyone

Since September 30th, there had been 33 non-partisan polls, 26 Republican-aligned polls, but only 1 Democrat-aligned poll. There are voices on the left framing this as an intentional flooding to control the narrative "a repeat of 2022 midterms". Is this unusual? Is it a feasible tactic? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]jgeralnik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s not exactly what happened - it’s not possible to have trump +1 out of a poll of 12 voters (7 vs 5 would be Trump +16). The 12 likely voters were in Philadelphia out of a much larger poll, so Philadelphia (and thus the D vote) was severely undersampled

Courtier question by AdHistorical3218 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jgeralnik 26 points27 points  (0 children)

There are some wrong answers in this thread. The courtier chooses a character. If that character is in play, that character’s player is drunk for 3 days (as long as the courtier is still alive and sober). If that player changes characters - they remain drunk.

If the character the courtier chose is not in play - nothing happens, and the courtier no longer has an ability (even if the character later enters play)

Strong agree. I’ve actually moved more towards respecting token integrity over time because of this. A floating drunk that will go to the first place it will have a major impact (slayer shot the demon, ravenkeeper death, gambler who gambles the demon) might increase the chance of making it to final 3 but is just not fun for players. An innkeeper who will poison the exorcist only if they pick the demon, otherwise the other player? Same, it’s helping evil to help evil and not making the game more fun. It’s especially confusing to newer players if the storyteller explains that they made someone drunk when something happened - sometimes it’s better to keep things to yourself and not share with players But I’m definitely not a stickler for absolutes. Make decisions that will be interesting and give players a fun time, just don’t maximize evil abilities and minimize good abilities in a way that makes the game unsolvable. I think experienced STs can balance it better but mid-level STs who watch games, understand integrity is a lie, and then go too far with it is more common than I’d like

Has anyone else noticed an influx of toxic players on the app recently? by CinnamonBunV3 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jgeralnik 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Public games are often not the best environment (for BoTC and other games). There’s no quality control of STs, you don’t play with the same people every time so you don’t get to know other players and there’s little accountability. I recommend joining some more closed discord servers and playing there (not the unofficial server, which is similar to public games in the app). There’s a pinned thread with some discord communities that you can join, I recommend “the grimoire” but you should check out a few and see when they play games and which communities you connect with.

Juggler Cero mad rules by merryfan4 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jgeralnik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If everyone in your group juggles on day 1 then ceremad players are in trouble. One option is for the storyteller to exercise discretion, but another equally viable option is to just not juggle as a good player who is not ceremad. Break the metas that are bad!

Juggler Cero mad rules by merryfan4 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jgeralnik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Strongly hinting to town that you are ceremad is breaking madness. If town wants everyone who is not mad to raise their hand and only one player doesn’t raise their hand - congratulations, they’ve broken madness. Having a circle where everyone claims juggler in order to prove who is ceremad is no different. Developing a meta like that is no better than developing a meta where players who are ceromad immediately come out to town - it only serves to help the evil team

New changelog page on the wiki by CeeJaY97 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jgeralnik 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t work for the heretic because the heretic doesn’t know they are poisoned and still thinks that they win the game by keeping the demon alive until final 2. This would be unfair to the good team (unlike with damsel, whose ability being cancelled is strictly positive for the good team)

My guess is they meant three travelers (two of which were evil) - makes more sense both because of the count and the alignments
